Hengchun South Gate

One of the four gates of the old town remains in a roundabout on the road, giving an antique feeling as something built centuries ago. It is well maintained and looks grand among all buildings around. It marks the south side of the town but now locates inside the busy center of the neighborhood. Nice place for photo!

南門，是恆春古城的城門之一；被稱為明都門的「南門」。 該城的遺跡在日治時期的昭和十年（1935年）12月5日被指定史蹟名勝天然紀念物之一，戰後則在民國七十四年（1985年）8月19日公告為臺閩地區二級古蹟，後改為國定古蹟。
是恆春保留下來最為完整的建築之一，佇立於圓環中心，十分壯觀醒目。很值得細細品味和拍照.....
值得一提的是...去年底，我和老婆自駕，加上兩位友人同行，特地到南門圓環旁的彩卷行光顧，其中一位買五張刮刮樂，連中五張，我自己手上這張也中獎.....。我停好車走到店家，遠遠就聽到大家笑聲和歡呼，幾乎人人有獎。有機會到南門，記得也去試試手氣，祝福各位中大獎喔~~

恆春城的興建，源於清末以來許多涉外事件(如琉球漁民遇難事件、牡丹社事件)，當時沈葆楨奏請在恆春一帶設縣築城，故於1875-1879年間興建目前所見的城牆和東西南北城門，遺留至今可說是全台灣保存最完整的古城遺跡。

城牆以連續的雉堞為特色，還可以上去走看看周圍恆春風光，南門的城樓也是相當經典的閩南式建築。推薦大家去墾丁時，也一定要去恆春古城走一走!
