Ksitigarbha Temple in Lukang worships Kṣitigarbha, who is known for his devotion and vow to take responsibility for the teaching of all beings, humans and non-humans for his supreme vow not to achieve Buddhahood until all hells are emptied, as its main deity. In East Asian culture, Ksitigarbhais generally considered as the bodhisattva of hell-beings and as the guardian of children and patron deity of deceased children. in Taiwan, Taoist temples, Buddhist temples and folklore temples may all worship Ksitigarbha as the main deity or one of the main deities because believers or worshippers usually consider Ksitigarbha as the protector or blessing giver of the deceased or ancestors and, thus, visit temples to pray for the blessings of the ancestors and the souls of the deceased.

But Ksitigarbha Temple in Lukang is relatively quiet, except the religious ceremony time for the worship or blessing of the ancestors or the ghosts. However, it is NOT unusual for the visitors to see a few worshippers sitting in the Temple and reading sutra or chanting the sutra.

The Temple is open free to the public and has bathroom and limited parking space.
