Lukang Mazu Temple

A historical temple worth to visit when you are in Taiwan. Surrounding also have varies street foods ready for your adventure. Will return again if time permitted.

A place worth spending half day or more to walk around.
Magnificent temple, inside and outside.
Beautiful buildings well preserved from 1920s, lively vendors and shops.
Would love to visit again.
The old street area (where you can find shops and food) mostly close around 20:00, recommend to go in the afternoon and enjoy dinner then walk around afterwards.

Entry point is from the west towards east. I went around 3/4 around before finding it.

The front view is popular starting shot for Tv stations and influencers alike.

Many locals pray here for blessings.

Most beautiful temple in Taiwan. The scale is perfect, the detail is magnificent, the color of wood and stone are amazing! Masterpiece. However, the florescent light kills a good design. Very unfortunate. Nonetheless, it’s a awesome temple still.

I never get tired of visiting this famous temple. People there are friendly and welcoming.

The temple is one of national historic sites. It the first Mazu temple, which built in the 16th century in Taiwan. This is my second time visit it. The Lunar New Year holiday was a terribly busy week here.

Beautiful Temple indeed. Unfortunately, because of the Corona (Wuhan) Virus pandemic visitors aren't allowed to enter.
Hopefully, Maybe next time when our Taiwan Government had totally control this epidemic.

Very nice quiet place but parking is limited. Can learn some history. Can be here for 10 mins to 30 minutes depending how detail you want to discover the meaning of the temple.

The trail is user-friendly!

One of the most important and well-known Mazu Temples in western Taiwan. The carving in the temple is Amazing.

A major temple in Lukang. It is not that big but it is old and beautiful.

Must come if in the area!

Very old temple. Lots of interesting facts hidden in the roof structure at the main entrance. Worth a visit and it's not far from Taichung.

Go just after sunset, when the temple comes alive with locals performing rites

Too famous not to visit.
But the century old sculpture and paiting are not well maintained.
