In my opinion one of the best places to learn about old lifestyle of Turks is this in Edirne and the best place in Edirne after Selimiye Mosque. The place which brings you to more than 500 years back to Ottoman Empire times exactly to the Bayazıt 2nd time. Everything about type of life they had back in times. Kitchen complex the way of preparing foods, baking breads and their place of eating, How they washed their dirty staff, also a very large complex about medicine 💊 and health, how to make new types of drugs for ill people 🤒, psychological services, of course with its mosque in the middle of the territory.

Educational and fascinating! The rooms that showed how food was prepared were the most attractive to me. The animations on the walls were pretty interesting too! Loved the mannequins, they looked just like real people and the whole setting makes you feel as if you're back in history!

Also they have cute peacocks! ❤

The whole complex is an amazing place! It is incredible to see how the Ottomans, in 14th century!!! treated the sick patients, worked on development of new drugs and introduced new methods of treatment, while in europe sick people were treated with fasting and prayer, witches were caught and burned if they could not be cured...

Very beautiful historical complex from Bayezid II era in 1488, the complex includes the kitchen section which showcases the history of cooking in the complex, a health museum that’s located in the historical hospital of the museum, and a mosque which was very beautiful especially the interior design of the dome, overall it was very insightful and informative, especially the health museum section and i highly recommend visiting it.

The Health Museum in Edirne is a rare combination of historical buildings, education on rare subject matters, traditional music, quieteness among the flowers and beautiful pheasants, and above all wonder. Restored in the last decade after a very long history of six centuries of ups and downs, the whole structure is today clean, accessible to all visitors (including different ables), and, at the minimal cost of 15 Lira, very rewarding. The four buildings complex is divided into the medical school, the hospital of physical and mentally ill patients, the mosque, and the Imaret (traditional resting and food square). The medical school presents 3D human size reconstructions of how the students and teachers might have lived through the centuries in the different lodgings, while also providing ample historical background and very interesting narratives and pictures. The hospital continues on the same style as the medical school but adds music, a beautiful garden, and freely roaming phaesants to the palette. Due to the density of the information provided here, it is best to dedicate at least half a day to this first section of the museum. There are many opportunities for sitting and relaxing, so bringing along a drink or a book will add to the soulful experience. The second part of the museum is the mosque and the Imaret. The mosque is active to date so sometimes it is not ideal for visitors, but its insides are definitely worth a visit. The Imaret is a culturally instructive place but much more entertaining than informational, although here too, there is plenty to read. The whole tour can easily take a full day due to the great amount of information, and the beautiful human size vignettes the creators have provided the visitors with. It's in my opinion ideal for families too.

A must visit for anyone interested in history, medicine or the Ottoman Empire. Really good exhibitions with models on display to illustrate how life was like back then. It's stunning how advanced medicine was in the 1500s in the Ottoman empire. Really enjoyed the visit and they've made a really good museum here which shows how mentally ill patients were cared for, how medicines were made, how students were trained and how music was used as therapy.

This building, built by Bayezid II, is the best health center of its time. Almost all kinds of diseases are treated here. They tried to treat mental illness with music. The building is also architecturally marvelous.

The medical hospital that was built during the ottoman empire '' Darrüşifa", in addition it contains the medical faculty known for " Tıp medressesi". The place introduce how was the medical levels at those times. It gives you an idea about the life of teachers and students in addition to the medical techniques using at that time.

The Health Museum is one of the biggest landmarks in all of European Turkey. It is located very close to Bulgaria. The entrance is symbolic and costs 5 Turkish pounds. It is the second most visited site in Edirne after the Selimiye Mosque. The museum houses recreated rooms from an Ottoman hospital. It was discovered in 1488 by Sultan Bayezid. The hospital treated patients for more than 400 years by 1909. The hospital had a medical school that trained physicians for the Ottoman Empire until the end of the 19th century.

One of the best experiences in Edirne! It is a big and beautiful complex with soup kitchen, pantry, mosque, hospital and medical school - all well preserved and with very interesting expositions. This hospital was operational almost 500 years! We spent 3h, could spend more. Note - there is another similar hospital by the Selimiye Mosque, but this one is the greater experience.

I like the non-aggresive stand of this 'Kulliye' that gives a comforting feeling where they used to cure people with the sound of water and music in the 15th century.
