Shams of Tabriz Mosque and Tomb

Beautiful mosque which the Turkish people believe to be the resting place of Shams of Tabriz in Konya. He is believed to be the spiritual inspiration of Jalal uddin Rumi

Similar to Molana Rumi who had moved with his family from the city of Balkh in North Eastern Persia (Iran) to Konya, Shams Tabrizi had also moved to Konya, today's southern Turkey from his home city of Tabriz in North Western Persia.
His actual burial site where his remains rest, is in the city of Khoy, in Iran, Azarbaijan province in northern Iran..
This site of Shams Tabrizi in Konya is symbolic and not the actual burial place of Shams.

This is the Shams Tabrizi mosque which has a tombstone claiming to be of Shams.
Shamse Tabrizi was the spiritual mentor of Mo'lana (Mevlana) the great Persian poet and Sufi.
However we Iranians believe that Shams suddendly disapeared from Konya and died in city of Khoy in Iran. Shams Tabrizi's tomb is in Khoy, beside a tower monument in a memorial park that has been nominated as a World Cultural Heritage Center by UNESCO.
This seems to be an ordinary mosque but it has a great cultural value.

Highly recommend this place for meditation. There lies the Tomb of Hazrat Shams Tabrez R.A, who was the teacher of Maulana Jalal u Din Rumi R.A.

The grave of Shams Tabrizi, the master of Mevlana Rumi. Its a peaceful place with an amazing aura. There is a mosque adjacent to the grave.

A good spiritual experience to visit the shrine and pray peacefully.

Shams Tabreez was a great Islamic Scholar.His tomb is in Konya. I recommend everyone to visit

it was beautiful and has positive sens but very roving.

It's a small old building which was closed for renovations when I visited but sitting across it on a bench was the most peaceful feeling that I have felt in a while. If you're a spiritual person this is a must visit place. Shams does feel like being in the presence of a sun filling you with light.

Modest mosque with tomb at one side on the lower level. Women section is small which may have been built to accommodate smaller population than it is used by.

If you are looking for truth, spend a couple of hours in the presence of Shams. For a more worldly experience: I got free tea from the keeper of the mosque, I loved this man, he even made sure I was sitting on the hot part of the floor.

Shams of tabriz was one of the most famous persons in the east. He was living around 700 years ago. He impressed Mevlana , one of the greatest poets in the history and changed his life from religion to love. The place is located close to Mevlana museum in a lovely garden. Go can access by walk (10 minutes from Mevlene). The traditional bazaar , bedesten , is also located there and you can spend hours and hours in it.

It is one of the most valuable spirituality's leader of Konya and World. He is the greatest representative, living and guide of the knowledge and love of God.

A beautifully simple mosque which houses the tomb of Shaykh Shams al-Din of Tabriz, the teacher of the great scholar and poet, Mevlana Rumi. Entrance is free and as it is a place of worship (fully functioning mosque), visitors are expected to dress respectfully. Was brought here after reading Elif Shafak's '40 Rules of Love'. This place resounded with me spiritually and I recommend visiting Shams before greeting his beloved friend and students, Mevlana Rumi (who is just down the street).

Masjid is very historic. The tomb makes you feel close to God. May allah bless this historic and significant man. And Allah guide us, like he guided this great mullah Hazrat Shams-e-Tabrez. Ameen!

This historical place is the tomb of "shams tabrizi" who was a great man that influenced "mevlana" who was an important poet. Also He had a doctrine in turkey but ge was Persian. Some poeple believe that the tomb is here some don't
