Rumelian Lighthouse

This place is amazing! There is an ancient fortress there with fantastic views of Black sea, towers and fighting arena. And of course the view of the lighthouse itself. We saw it in the fog and it looked rather mysterious. But the fortress we visited breathes with the time of Turkish battles

You will see another beauty of İstanbul here! ❤ you can go there by using Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro. Take bus number 150 from Hacıosman metro. Just stay at the bus until the last station. It is quite far away. But the view that you'll get is worth it.

The station is the 19th station as I remember. The station's name is Rumeli Feneri. You will see the same station's name on your way. It is Rumeli Feneri Yolu. Do not get off the bus on that station. Because it is still far away from the destination. I told this because I did that mistake. As I get off in Rumeli Feneri Yolu station and think the bus is the wrong bus, I took taxy with 30 Lira to the place even it is just 15 minutes. But after, I learned that the bus was the correct one. I want to share this experience so people will not do the same like I did 🙂

From the station you just can walk away to the castle and beach. Near the beach there is a restaurant. For the breakfast menu, it prices 30 lira. Yes, it is slightly expensive. So, I reccomend you to bring your own food if you want go there. Just bring small snacks in your bag. There are some small cafe and restaurant also, but I don't reccomend it.

Since it is really far away from the city center, you will find this place as a village. You can see farms, cows, sheeps, and another farm animals too, even you can see a car that carry a lot of vegetables. This place is connected to Sariyer area, Sariyer is one of expensive and ellite place in Istanbul, but if you see this place, you can say, it is really far away to be called ellite. So, if you want to ser another face of İstanbul, you can come to Rumeli Feneri.

Here also, you can see an old white lighthouse on the edge of the beach and take nice photos. I recommend to not go there on the night because the place is quite, you can not find many people on the castle. And I think it will be really dark after the sunset. I don't know but I think it will be a little bit dangerous to stay there at night. So, catch your bus before the sky goes dark. 🙂

I went there on a hiking trip but the place is great for picnics and car rides. U can take the bus but car is more convenient i think. The place isn't crowded and great for pictures and family time.

360 degrees of breathtaking. Just be there, no pictures are ever enough.

A lot of history here. Doesn't disappoint. Must visit. Picture perfect location.

İstanbul boğazının karadeniz ile birleşdiği yerin Avrupa tarafında kalan tarihi fener çevre köye de adını verdi

Küçük bir köy gibi, merkezde yapılacak çok bir şey yok kahvesinde mola verip çay, soda, su içtik 7tl ödedik:) merkez yukarıda kalıyor liman ise aşağıda. Limana inerken yokuşun tam başında mendirek balık var; manzaraya karşı herkes orada balık vs yiyor yakınlarında çok geç kalmadıysanız araba park etmek mümkün:) tam o ayrımdayken yani Feneri arkanıza almışken sola dönünce ise Fevzi çakmak caddesinden )yanlış hatırlamıyorsam) biraz yürüyüp sağa dönerseniz merdivenlerden manzara, kale, denizi içeren çok güzel bir kadraj yakalayabilirsiniz aynı zamanda oturduğumuz kahvenin de arkasına denk geliyor. Son olarak eski kale ziyaret edilmeli, tarihi 17.yya dayanıyor ve topçu kalesi olarak da geçiyor. Marmara denizi ile karadenizi birbirine bağlayan noktada bulunuyor. Uzaktan göründüğünden çok daha büyük fakat inanılmaz bakımsız. İçerisi ahır gibi inekler var, etrafı çok pis her yer çekirdek kabuğu, hiçbir yerde bilgi tabela yok. Bu kadar güzel bir lokasyonda bu kadar anlamlı bir kale daha kötü bırakılamazdı içim acıdı. Belediye, kültür bakanlığı neden ilgilenmiyor anlamadım. Rumeli Feneri potansiyelini bakımsızlığa kurban etmiş. Çok daha güzel olabilirdi.

İstanbullular için kafa dinlemek için guzel bir kaçış noktası olan Rumeli Feneri ne geldiğinizde Rumeli deniz fenerinide mutlaka görün.

İstanbul Boğazı’nın Avrupa yakasında en kuzeyde ve Sarıyer ilçesine bağlı şirin bir balıkçı köyüdür. İstanbul Boğazı’na Karadeniz’den ilk giriş noktasıdır.
Kırım savaşı sırasında Fransız ve İngiliz
gemilerinin Boğaz'ın ve Karadeniz'in girişlerini görebilmeleri için yapılmasına karar verilen fener 15 Mayıs 1856'da Fransızlar tarafından karşı sahildeki fenerle beraber kule kısmı yapılarak işletilmeye başlanmış. 1933'te Fransızlara verilen 100 senelik işletme imtiyazı iptal edilmiş ve tamamen Türklere geçmiştir.

Deniz yüzeyinden 58 metre yüksekte olan kule 30 metre boyundadır. Fener kulesi üç kademede inşa edilmiş olup lambası ilkin gazyağı ardından asetilen ile çalışmıştır. Günümüzde elektrik enerjisi ile aydınlanan fenere bütan gazı ile yedeği alınmaktadır. Fener beyaz ışığı ile 18 deniz mili uzaktan görülebili
