Hammam le kram

Way back before the pandemic Tunisia was on my holiday's destination list but my long planned holidays got frustrated as all countries started to shut their doors because coronavirus

It took me 3 more years to flight to this Great Country Full of History and Natural almost unspoiled Beauty, and to get to know some of its most Kind and friendliest people

One of the highlights of this long -awaited trip was discovering a little gem called Hammam Le Kram in La Goulette area

There is something about these traditional Arab baths that made me unwind and truly feel fully relaxed and definitely Hammam Le Kran is a superb place for it

This three generations family business -with its Unpretentious but with big sense of traditional camaraderie between its patrons- is above all a place where you will get to see an authentic Arab paternal bond between Father and sons as they spent quality time together, where fathers teach the art of cleansing to the next generations , where friends and neighbors get together for a well deserved break during the day

Specially busy after 3 pm , people like to spend sometime sweating, grooming and enjoying a good chat

With a traditional Tunisian architecture - discrete facade you will get into a typical Arab courtyard, then trough a small door, you will get access to the basic facilities on your way to the main bath area where most of the patrons take their time to practice the popular art of cleaning and relaxation from there you will find the hot room (the caldarium ) where you can spent sometime detoxing and making new friends

Although locals only speak Tunisian and French (something I can’t do) these very kind people will try to speak to you and to get to know you

Unfrequented by tourist is pretty much an unspoiled place to experience the real Tunisian customs and people

If your accommodation is near to the Medina I suggest you to get a Taxi (only make sure the taximeter is on)

The journey about 15 min from the Medina it will cost you about 12 dinars
The entry to the Hammam is about 9 dinars with basic traditional massage,
I recommend you to bring your own towel(s) , drinks and toiletries

Respect the sauna etiquette and the dress etiquette (wear shorts or swim trunks ) and when changing keep a towel on

The staff will lock away your stuff in these traditional heavy metal lockers and if you need to reach something from your locker they will open it for you

If you can’t speak Tunisian or French , Hamza is your guy , he will try to help you as he is one of the few people that speak English

Yes , is worthy to pay a visit to this little gem in one of the
busiest areas in Tunis

And yes, I will go back again !!
