Must visit in Songkhla for the panoramic views! When we went, the lift station opened at 9am NOT 830am as listed. Tickets are return and though prices have increased it's still affordable. The lift tracks are covered so there's no view but the lift is air conditioned, which is a godsend in the killer heat (bring umbrellas). There's no fixed schedule for the lift operation; they go up when it's full, so you may have to wait when you want to go down.

To find the royal pavilion, to the right side after the bell tower there's a downhill stairway flanked by gold dragons, walk down it to reach.

Beat the heat by grabbing a local ice cream in a coconut dessert from either stall in front of the lift station, you can sit and eat at the table and chairs in front of the souvenir shop.

It’s definitely worth the THB 45 going up by cable car. The views up there are great and the always blowing wind is refreshing.

I visited on Saturday morning. The ticket was only 45? I forget. There was only me up there. Though it's hot, the views are cool. I got to see Songkhla and the islands nearby. And there's also stairs, kind of hidden, that lead us to a beautiful building like a castle. Probably it is.

Khao Tangkuan is one of the important tourist attractions in Songkhla Province. Khao Tangkuan is a hill approximately 2,000 feet above sea level. The area of Khao Tang Khao, according to history, was originally the city of Tang U. The governor of Tang U is called by the villagers. “Father of the city of Tang U” has a royal teacher named “Plod” Phra That Chedi on Tang Kuan Hill. Father Mueang Tang U was the builder and Phra Rajakhru Plod was the construction manager. On Saturday, the 15th day of the waxing moon, the 9th month of the Year of the Rabbit, corresponding to 22 July 1853, construction took 8 years from the start of construction until 2012, making it 702 years old. Interesting place to try out the cable car trip up to the hill top for a scenic view of Songkla. Awesome view. Part of the place is still being renovated and undergoing restoration works. Before you leave, do try out the coconut ice cream stalls just outside entrance. Toppings of your choice. Yummy.

Wheelchair friendly! Great place to have a good bird view of the city :)
The lift was good to take too. Be aware of the monkeys down at the entrance. They are wild animals and should be respected 🙏 🤲

A hill to overlook the beautiful Songkhla and it’s surrounding region. There are a pile of trash, I assume as part of the construction, but otherwise, it’s a great site to visit. Plenty of mouse and I love the life affirming quotes at its wall.

There are some fantastic views at the top of Tang Kuan Hill, and the 30 baht elevator ride is well worth it if your legs are a bit weary. You can get a great view of Songkhla, the lake and the beaches from here, and the chedi and surrounding structures at the top also make for some interesting wandering around

Nice view point and we glad that we pay for the lift to get up there. We do hope there is some basic facility such as washroom up there. Overall, very nice lookup point
