Uncle Pala Fresh Coffee

At first I wanted to stay for just two or three days but ended up staying for nine days. The people, the family who runs this place are just so lovely and nice, they truly made me feel at home with them.
The food the drinks and obviously the coffee are superb, which I can attest to as I stayed for nine days and tried almost every item on the menu, every meal I had was as good as it gets.
Their garden is so beautiful that even though the lake is just two minutes from it I always ended up staying there for at least a few hours each day taking in the peacefulness of it. Also their dining balcony has just a beautiful scenic view of the forest and fields that surrounds the village.
The rooms are nice and very clean and comes at a good price especially in comparison with more touristic places or the cities (they get even cheaper if you stay for more then one night 😉). The shower is especially good with hot water and a strong pressure which I liked.
Obviously the main attraction is the lake, that as I mentioned is just a two minutes walk from the house, and which blew away my expectations at how beautiful and serene it was.
In conclusion you should come to pang oung lake, and since you will want to stay there for more than a few hours, believe me, I will highly recommend you stay at Pala guest house for the complete package.

Uncle Pala is an absolute legend. Rode up to his space in the freezing cold and only managed to reach at 930+pm and he and his wife waited up for us. We were freezing and hungry, and he immediately made us a fire, and cooked us a hot vegan meal of stir fried veggies and rice and a pot of home grown oolong tea. Over the next day, we had nice conversations with him and learnt about how he came to create this beautiful space of his over the years. Incredibly beautiful space, super hot gas burner shower (first i've ever seen/tried) that came very much in handy in December, clean space, campfire pit, great views, even a sitting area for tea. Can't ask for more and 10/10 would come back

Sweetest people ever !! Clean rooms, put a fire pit for us and served us with amazing, flavourful food, 100% recommend.

The owner here is very accommodating he cooked us fresh Tea salad from his garden along with some lovely Thai dishes. The view is incredible. You can also stay here at reasonable prices. We recommend this place and in such a beautiful area, you should stay a few days :)

The owner is really really kind he speaks very good English, and has a big knowledge about all the area. The food is really delicious and big portions, coffe and tea are some of the best I tried. The restaurant has a great ambience with some tables with views to the rice fields. They also have rooms I didn't stay there but they look really new and comfy.

Great coffee, a stunning location and friendly people. This is a great stop just on the edge of Pang Oung and as close as you need to be, especially if visiting on a weekend!

I also bought some ground coffee to bring home to Cambodia - currently enjoying it every morning. I will definitely return...

This place is awesome! Exactly what you need after camping at pang oung. The owner is a very sweet guy who grows & roasts the coffee himself & its great coffee!! Everything is great quality but still very affordable. The garden is incredible with stunning views!! Definitely recommend stopping by if your in the area - you will love it!!

One of the best coffee (not in Mae Hong Son/Northern Thai) BUT in Thailand!

We have been reading reviews about this place from google, and truth be told, Uncle Pala makes the best coffee with his nicely roasted coffee beans, brewed in a little classic Moka pot.

The most amazing thing is the set up of his backyard, flourished with bamboo trees and other greenies, the whole outdoor sitting vibe is just so tranquil and peaceful.

To top it off, we ordered a Laab (minced pork salad) and some northern Thai sausages, they were so simple yet so delicious, and goes well with our coffee.

Definitely don’t miss out this place when you visit Pang Oung, come straight after the sunrise will be ideal for a nice cup of coffee and/or breakfast.

Outstanding coffee. Grown, roasted by hand in a large wok by a master, and brewed in Moka pots to perfection. I usually drink a medium to dark roasted Arabica Americano with a small shot of milk. I drink Uncle Pala's black. It is so good that I feel like I am polluting the brew if I add anything. Uncle Pala's also serves deliciously healthy food in a relaxed environment. What a great place with open and friendly people. Can't do better than this.

Stayed one night. The place is super cute, perfectly set in the mountains. The rooms are humble, but the food and hospitality are amazing. He grows his own coffee and tea. Definitely get the tea leaf salad.

Very nice outdoor cafe, friendly owner living their for over 40 years, grows and roasts coffee in house, planted his own bamboo trees 30 years ago. Quite a story.

Best coffee in Thailand! The view at the valley is beautiful, big old bamboo tree's in the garden are also very special!!

A friendly cosy place, beautiful surroundings, make sure to check out the terrace at the back! Very tasty food, good price for the area.

Uncle Pala is the place to stop after going up a treacherous road up to Pang Oung. Rest and relax here and the coffee is super great!
