If I were between the ages of 7-11, you probably couldn’t get me out of that place. For children, it’s likely a place of wonder and discovery, far beyond the printed books in my old school library. The museum was founded in 1995 by HRH Princess Sirindhorn who visited and also established the Phu Kum Khao Dinosaur Museum. Later, they even named a local dinosaur after her.

This is a highly recommended attraction, not only for Thai school children, but for Western tourists, as the exhibits are clearly written in uncomplicated Thai and English. While geared for education, adults can pick something up as well.

We had a great time. A jewel of Kalasin Province!

Great alternative daytime adventure in Kalasim province. Exceeded expectations. Beware of school excursion days. 150baht for Falang adult / local Thai adult 50baht. Kids cheaper.

The proverbial 'must-do' when one is staying in Kalasin province, is to skip out of the city centre and head to Non Buri (about a half hour drive from the downtown / CBD) to check out the amazing Srindorn Musuem. Plenty to see and experience here, with appeal to patrons both young and old. Ample car parking, friendly staff and interesting, well put together modern interactive, as well as ancient archaeological displays. Definitely a must-see tourist attraction (see my YouTube), in the area.

They keep improving this place, it is now a world class museum. It is well worth coming here. The detailed exhibitions are in two languages and it is very extensive. The spacious layout of the museum makes it easy to walk around and get close to the exhibitions.
The link to the local community in the history Thailand has with dinosaurs and fossils is important to see.

One of the best Dinosaur Museum I have visited. There are a lot of exhibitions with English translation. A great place to bring kids. They will love it !! 250 meters behind the main building, there is a dinosaur quarry where they have real bones. There are a lot of gifts shops across the street where you can find some souvenirs. Very easy to get to from Kalasin bus station, 40 minutes drive on a minivan cost 55 baht. Just ask for the dinosaur museum at the bus station.

I have not been to the other dinosaurs fossils sites in Thailand but find this one impressive enough. The museum is modern with a lot of information in English, many dinosaurs to appeal to kids. Beside dinosaurs info, there are info on the galaxy, formation of the earth and human evolution too, 200 metre away(uncovered walk) is the fossils site but no English information in it. In between them is a little fern garden and near exit of museum have exhibits of well taken photos of attractions in Kalasin, that most visitors missed. In fact, many visitors missed the fossils site where 7 dinosaurs remains are found, which is the highlight of the place. Poor marketing. Entrance is 100 baht but valid with the Thailand Museum Pass.

A lot of work must have gone into the display of all the exhibits, absolutely fabulous. My grandchildren would have loved it and it would have been a long day looking at everything.

I will recommend this Museum to all Dinosaur and Pre-historic life enthusiasts. The displays give valuable insights into life in the past. The shop also has some great souvenirs.

The museum and the dig site are all in the grounds of the temple. The museum has a large carpark. I have read that fossil bones were first found here in 1994 by a monk from the temple after several days of heavy rain had washed lots of soil away. The museum is very professional and most things are well presented in Thai and English - highly recommended 👌

It was a decent museum. Be sure to go to the archeology site that's behind the museum and just past the site are some temple stairs that are worth seeing and climbing for the view at the top. You can also get to the temple which is beautiful and to the top of the mountain to the shrine that way too.
