This destination offers a truly unique experience, characterized by the presence of hundreds of free-roaming monkeys. The opportunity to interact closely and even touch these animals adds a remarkable dimension to the visit. I highly recommend this place for those seeking an encounter with wildlife in a setting that allows for such direct interaction. It’s a memorable and distinctive experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Love this place! Feed the monkeys yogurt. So good for healthy gut bacteria 🥰
If they climb on you, just pull and push em off when you get sick of them. If they bite you, you're probably gonna be fine. They're actually pretty well monitored, vaccinated, and neutered. But get a cheap rabies shot just in case, if you are bitten. Super easy in Thailand.
I got bit, didn't break the skin, didn't hurt. They're just naughty children mostly. SO CUTE!

A small but important ancient site right by the train station. Upon buying the entrance ticket, you'll be offered a stick to ward of the monkeys, but you probably won't need it - the monkeys were very peaceful. The Khmer style temple can be explore in a matter of minutes; the real fun comes from watching the monkeys climb, play, and jump around the temple. The temple can be entered to get some shade or to get away from the monkeys. It was pretty quiet when I went on a Saturday morning, no other visitors. Staff and security guard are very friendly.

Best known as the Monkey Temple
This will not disappoint, there are Monkey's everywhere.
Easy to get to by train, your self guided tour around the temple comes with a stick.
I found I had just as much delight standing in town watching the monkeys run a muck 😁
Well worth a visit.

It was quite an experience to go there. There were a lot of monkeys around the place and they just did their own business. Once you pay for the ticket, staff will give you a stick, just carry it with you and you'll be fine with monkeys.

Most of them just did their things only 1 or two that might want to bother you so all u need to do is knock the stick on the floor as a sign that this is your boundary : Get Out!

I recently had the opportunity to visit Phra Prang Sam Yot with my family, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we stepped onto the temple grounds, we were awed by the stunning beauty of the ancient Khmer-style architecture and the intricate carvings and sculptures that adorned the prangs.

Many naughty macaque monkeys that live in the vicinity were all about us as we moved around the shrine.

We made cautious to remain a safe distance because we had been informed that they may be violent, even though they were amusing to watch.

Notwithstanding the monkey antics, the central prang was the real pleasure of our trip.

It was a magnificent site to witness, standing over 20 metres tall, and the degree of detail in the carvings and sculptures was simply remarkable.

We took our time admiring the fine craftsmanship and the representations of Buddhist and Hindu deities.

Amazing temple of the 17th century showing the mix of religions that influenced Lopburi. Hinduism and Buddhism live together in a temple depicting the importance of the second capital of the ayutthaya's kingdom.

But obviously most of the people would go the for the the funny and cute behaviour of the many monkeys that inhabit this temple. Although you don't risk any major threat if they give you a stick at the entrance there's a reason. Take good care of your belonging as these little cute monsters as faster and smarter than you so keep your bag in front of you and don't show them bright items or bottles of water.

Anyway it's fun, curious and interesting to visit this place

Super unique to see not just the temple, but an entire chunk of the town completely overrun by monkeys. Don’t approach them, those little guys are anything but friendly. They’ll try to steal anything that’s on you, play with your cars windshield or take your motorcycle helmet. Anything they can ger their hands on.

Entrance to the temple is 50bht and you’re a given a bamboo stick for self defense. Wasn’t needed.

Macaques every where! Some can be a little aggressive. Our bus got stuck in a monkey induced traffic jam, which was kind of cool. Got jumped on half a dozen times in 15 minutes. Sunglasses, loose objects, will be grabbed, good luck trying to get your item back! Check out the monkey family photo!

Overrun with monkeys, so if you don’t like monkeys don’t bother to go. Love this place, better visit in the morning. The entrance guard will give you a stick for your safety. Some of these monkeys are very curious especially the young ones. The older monkeys are quite chill. You can go inside the temple, although there aren’t much to see inside. The monkeys are barred from going inside the temple

Macaques abounding! This was my first time seeing monkeys and now I just want to dedicate my life to being around them all the time. Open to suggestions if anyone can help. Note: they climbed on me bc I had food. Don’t do this. They can carry rabies and herpes and now I have to get shots.

Truly just ruled by monkeys. They give you a bamboo stick to “protect” yourself but I didn’t need to use it.

Remember, smiling aka baring your teeth at macaques can be interpreted as a display of aggression. Unless you are trying to square up with some monkeys, stick to smizing. But It’ll be hard not to smile (picture of said transgression included). There are macaques everywhere just going macaque things. At the time I visited, they had started migrating into town. Lack of tourists to feed them, at the start of pandemic, had the monkeys looking to the town for food. My understanding is they were kind of wreaking havoc. So, come feed the macaques and help keep peace in town.

You are given a stick to hold off overly eager young macaques. They may climb on you, but it wasn’t problematic. You just quickly spin in a circle to get them off. Result is similar to when someone doesn’t hold tight enough on a merry-go-round. Read about that in someone’s travel blog, and it actually worked. I don’t suggest grabbing the macaques. I didn’t try as I am not a big fan of rabies and like my fingers intact.

One of my favorite ancient sites in Thailand, it was a Khmer outpost of the Angkor Wat related Khmer kingdom. Loads of curious monkeys will climb onto you if you get very close to the temple.

What a great place for a mini vacation. We took the train from Bangkok for 50 baht. It was about 2 1/2 hours out it was fun to meet the locals and try different foods along the way. We went during the yearly festival where they put out food for all the monkeys. There were monkeys everywhere. BEWARE. These little guys will steal anything they can get there hands on. Hats, hair ties, necklace, your phone!!! Water ect. Be careful. They can open zippers as well. They are very clever. But for the most part they are fun to play with.

This place is all about the monkeys, so if that What you want to see, then go here. The temple itself is kind of small, and there isn't much to it. No parking, the surrounding area is pretty dirty and run down.

But lots of cool monkeys!

Here you will find Khmer architecture, Buddha statues, and lots and lots of monkeys. For tourists, they are the main attraction. Some are a nuisance, others are more benign, but that's just my opinion of the tourists, the monkeys behave exactly as you would expect monkeys to behave. Keep your bags close to you, always done up, and don't bring any sweets. Monkeys love scarves, so if you are wearing one, be prepared to fight a monkey or two for it.
