สะพานป่าชายเลน (Mangrove Forests)

This is one of the best/most unique places to visit if you're staying around Cha-am or Hua Hin.

To get here, you should look for the Laem Phak Bia Environment Research Development Project on the map. Google will take you to a closed chain link gate that looks abandoned. The real entrance is through the research center a few dozen meters before the chain link gate, to the right. The research center has a big parking lot.

The forest park is free to visit, you only have to leave your name with the staff at the gate. The first section of the park is an open area with shallow pools and information boards that explain the kind of research they do there. The mangrove forest starts behind that.

There are currently 2 maintained boardwalks through the mangrove forest. If you're looking for a longer walk, I recommend walking past the information board no. 5 and taking the Trail no. 3. This boardwalk is about 1.5km long, has plenty of shade, and ends at the same viewpoint as Trail no. 1 (all other viewpoints are inaccessible). I was here on a Sunday and didn't meet anyone on this trial.

If you don't want to walk far, you can hop on a minibus at the entrance. The ride takes a couple of minutes and takes you to the start of Trail no. 1. This is a 860m long, new boardwalk with very little shade. It's easy to observe different crab species and mudskipper fish from the boardwalk.

I came with a scooter so I'm not sure about public transportation options, but you should be able to catch a taxi from Phetchaburi or Cha-am. Cycling is also an option as there are designated cycling lanes in the area. The traffic in the area is very light and all the roads are flat and well-maintained.

Very nice experience. It's one of the best places near Bangkok to see the mangroves. There are many snapping shrimps which make this kind of popping sound. Besides silence this will be the only sound you'll hear all around. At the end of the walk you'll arrive at the calm sea. There are some seats and it's a very nice place to relax. Would go again when I'm in the area.

There're free shuttle buses from the front building to the bridge and then take a short walk for few minutes to get to the pier.

The driver didn't accept my tip so I put in the donation box instead.

It was actually a really nice time. Take your seat on a bus they take you around the facility "the guide does not speak English"

at the Midway point you get off of the buses and you follow a trail through the mangrove forest. Comes out on a pier that goes into the ocean very nice views.

The forest the wildlife in the views were great, I recommend it for everyone.

we went during songkran holiday. there were many thai families visiting that day. The place is nicely maintained. the staff are very friendly to us when aware we are foreigners. worth a stop on the way back from hua hin to bangkok. and you can avoid the traffick on hw 4 and driving on a scenic route.

เป็นเส้นทางศึกษาธรรมชาติ อยู่ในโครงการวิจัยและพัฒนาสิ่งแวดล้อมแหล่มผักเบี้ย มีรถรับส่ง จากบริเวณหน้าโครงการมาที่จุดสะพานศึกษาธรรมชาติป่าชายเลน ทุก 30 นาที ระยะทางเดิน 860 เมตร เดินเรื่อยๆ ชิวๆ เดี๋ยวก็ถึง แนะนำ ให้มาวันที่น้ำทะเลขึ้นช่วงกลางวันจะสวยมากครับ ช่วงสายแดดก็แรงอยู่ ถึงจะมีร่มไม้ แต่ก็มีบางช่วงที่ต้องเจอแดด มีหอสูง ให้ขึ้นไปชมวิวโดยรอบด้วยครับ แนะนำให้พกร่มเตรียมหมวกมาด้วย สำคัญที่สุดอย่าลืมเตรียมน้ำดื่มมาด้วยครับ เพราะต้องใช้เวลาเดินไป เดินกลับพอสมควร ตลอดเส้นทาง มีป้ายคำบรรยาย ให้ความรู้เกี่ยวกับพืชพรรณ และสัตว์น้ำ ในป่าชายเลน พอถึงปลายสะพาน มีศาลาริมน้ำทอดยาวออกไป อากาศดีลมเย็นสบาย

สถานที่สวยร่มรื่นมีลมพัดเย็นสบาย อากาศไม่ร้อนมาก แต่แนะนำให้มาในช่วงที่น้ำขึ้นจะได้วิวบรรยากาศที่สวยกว่านี้เพราะตอนนี้แทบไม่มีน้ำทะเลเลย ตอนเข้ามาต้องผ่านจุดลงทะเบียนก่อน สามารถนั่งรถซาฟารีฟรีเข้ามาลงหน้าทางเข้าป่าชายเลนได้ หรือจะเช่าจักรยานคันละ 20 บาทแล้วปั่นมาจอดหน้าทางเข้าก็ได้ ระยะทางเดินไม่ไกลมาก ใช้เวลาเดินไปกลับประมาณ 30 นาที รวมๆดีค่ะ

มาเที่ยวโครงการแหลมผักเบี้ย เป็นศูนย์การเรียนรู้ที่ดีมาก เข้าฟรีไม่เสียค่าใช้จ่าย มีรถบริการรับส่ง บริเวณป่าชายเลน บรรยากาศร่มรื่นมาก มีจุดถ่ายรูปเยอะ ปูกับปลาตีนเยอะมาก มีจุดถ่ายรูปมุมสูงด้วย อันนี้มาครั้งที่2แล้ว ถ้ามีโอกาสจะแวะมาอีก

ได้ความรู้เกี่ยวกับการบำบัดน้ำเสียโดยธรรมชาติ มีรถบริการนั่งชมฟรี มีสะพานไม้เดินชมป่าชายเลนระหว่างทางจะมีปูให้ดูเยอะแยะเลย สะพานจะยาวยื่นไปในทะเล เหมาะสำหรับคนที่ชอบธรรมชาติ

ได้เดินชมระบบนิเวศป่าไม้โกรงกราง ที่มีสภาพความสมบูรณ์มากๆครับ ทำให้มีปูหลายสายพันธุ์ ปลาตีน นกต่างๆมากมายเลยนะครับ

เป็นสถานที่ให้ความรู้เรื่องการบำบัดน้ำเสียที่ดีมากทีเดียว สอนให้อนุรักษ์ธรรมชาติป่าไม้

สำหรับคนที่กำลังจะไป สะพานไม้ป่าชายเลนนั้นระยะทางเดินประมาน2กิโลเมตร ไป-กลับ ร่วม4กิโลเมตร

เที่ยวชมระบบนิเวศป่าชายเลน มีรถพาชม แล้วเดินต่อไปที่สะพานไม้

เส้นทางสำรวจธรรมชาติ ระยะทางกำลังดี หลังปรับปรุงเรียบร้อยสวยงาม มีป้ายให้ความรู้เป็นระยะ แต่หอคอยจุดชมวิวควรเพิ่มตะแกรงเหล็กฉีก ป้องกันเด็กเล็กพลัดตกครับ
