Pimalai Resort and Spa

One of the most beautiful resorts we’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy. We stayed here 5 years ago, in a pool suite at the higher level, and looked forward to returning again. This time we stayed in a smaller room at the lower level. We preferred being at the lower level as it’s closer to the beach (we’re not pool people) and you don’t need to wait for a ride to get to your room.

Our room, on the second level of our villa, was gorgeous and incredibly comfortable with a beautiful view of the ocean. Loved using their Pimalai App to make dinner reservations, choose our pillows, ask for amenities, and communicate with staff. Lush vegetation makes every individual villa feel private and special. The grounds are enormous, with the birds of Thailand joyfully singing non-stop (a good thing!).

Management does everything right to make this a true five star experience. Sun beds are covered with special towels, water is brought to you without having to ask, there are plenty of Sun-beds available - no running down early to grab a spot.

Breakfast is amazing with plenty of fresh choices, western and local. Happy hour (BOGO) at the beach bar is a nice treat, considering there aren’t many other choices “off campus” to go to. We ate at the RakTalay Beach restaurant twice. At the Thai restaurant Space & Rice once. The food is outstanding.

One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. Everything is up to 5 star standard and beyond. The quality of the service and staff is up to perfection. Everyone is very friendly and nice. The hotel facilities and rooms are well maintained, luxurious. The food in Spice’n’Rice restaurant is a-ma-zing! The SPA is beautiful, relaxing and massages are super professional. We never want to leave this place. Thank you so much for making our dream holiday come true.

Everything was great. The room was really cozy and had everything you would need. The beach area was a dream with the most friendliest team ever! All the staff were always so kind and welcoming. Alot of eco-green initiatives - great breakfast - great tech and app - great facilities. A true paradise, thank you for an amazing stay.

Came here for lunch after a bad experience at the hotel I booked and looked at rooms for future stay. What a beautiful setting and lovely rooms. Had an excellent lunch overlooking the sea with staff that truly cared about the customer. I could kick myself for choosing the wrong hotel wish I had stayed here! Will be back and excited to have found this magical location and kind staff. The only hotel in this 5 category rating I would recommend for this island.

What an amazing place! Beautifully designed, built and maintained. We stayed in a large, luxurious 1 bed (enormous) suite a few steps from the beach (golden sands, calm clear sea, virtually empty) with a pool shared with a couple of other villas. The staff were all incredibly friendly, efficient and unobtrusive - happy all the time and open to chatting with us. Good choice of restaurants and bars; we particularly enjoyed Spice 'n Rice and the seafood Rak Talay by the beach. We borrowed pedal bikes to explore the local area. Yes, it's not cheap, but it's worth it for a uniquely enjoyable experience.

Absolutely beautiful place. Modern when compared to some of the older Phuket hotels but decorated very tastefully and in keeping with the surroundings. The room was kept spotlessly clean while I was there. The staff were amazing. Breakfast is a little lacking in comparison to other 5 star hotels. The location is somewhat secluded which adds to the charm but is worth keeping in mind if that's an issue for you. You will need a scooter or taxi to get around the island. There are a few shops a few minutes walk down the beach which is convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

Wow, just amazing. Pimalai is a beautiful resort located at the best beach of Koh Lanta. I just love how well the hotel is integrated into the pristine nature. The service is fantastic, very personal. Restaurants are good but expensive, but there are many nice food options just a few minutes from the hotel. Pimalai is not an international chain hotel. If you expect absolute perfection like at the Ritz Carton, Pimalai is not for you. This is a more casual but intimate luxury hotel where you find genuine smiles. The resort shows its age, but is very well maintained. We look forward to being back.

GO HERE. We’ve been to a fair number of resorts across Thailand, and this is a contender for the best. The beach is spectacular. Clear blue, secluded and calm. The food and bev venues are both beautifully done and have great food. And the staff was so polite and attentive. Entire resort is pristine. I’ll definitely be back.

We are regular guests at Pimalai. We just returned from another very memorable stay there. The resort remains spectacular and, as always, the atmosphere makes you feel like home. The facilities are very beautiful and the staff is very friendly. Our family wants to thank everbody for great hospitality. We will definitively be back and already booked our next stay.

Everything about our honeymoon at Pimalai was perfect. The staff, the grounds, the facilities , exceeded our expectations. We used the fitness center, went on a snorkeling trip, went to the spa, ordered room service, used the paddle boards, and we were so happy with all of it . I’ve never been to such a nice resort before with such dedicated and kind stuff. They never missed a beat with anything. I was so sad to leave , and I really hope to return some day.

If you read this and you were hesitating on booking which resort to book in Koh Lanta, search no further.

This was so far the best beach resort that I have been to.
The resort was stunningly green and beautiful. The room was clean. I experienced a small issue with hot water, but they fix it the next day and they even sent a bottle of wine to the room.

The staff members were totally friendly, the way they greeted you were so kind. If you happened to see them outside your room, they would stopped and greeted you with smile.

Special compliments for the manager of the restaurant , Khun Yang, she did a great job!

I just have two suggestions to be improved though
1. It would be amazing if the bathroom area has a door or a curtain to cover the bathroom area entrance. Therefore, when you're laying in bed, you do not see the bathroom right away
2. Excursions package that the hotel offered somehow was far too expensive in comparison with normal price at the village. At the end, i did not really feel like we got wat we paid for.

I came for my birthday and I was not disappointed. The food & service was first class. We ate in Rice & Spice.
Spa was amazing treat from my other half. Loved every minute of it and it was reasonably priced.
The App is very good with information regarding hotel, to check menu, have live chat if any is needed.
Every one in the hotel was super friendly and the customer service was amazing.
Sea View was amazing from room 401.

One of the best hotels we ever visited. LOVELY STAFF, everyone was so nice! Great service, great food, cozy bed and beautiful room. I also liked the aerial yoga class and the spa is amazing, we had two massages. Beautiful resort, would definitely recommend it and we will be back.

Pimalai is a stunning five-star resort with beautiful facilities and phenomenal service. Fully recommended with no reservations.

We spent a week here and we enjoyed every second of it. The compound is lush, generous and meticulously maintained. With its hillside setting, you can alternate between seaside, garden and hill settings.

Service was impeccable and staff training is clearly a focus as every staff member we encountered was consistently pleasant, helpful and professional. We received particularly outstanding service by Khun Beam (Spice and Rice) and Khun Tern (Koh Haa expedition crew). During our week at Pimalai, we did not have to wait for anything ever and everything we booked and scheduled worked like clock-work.

The rooms/villas are spacious and tastefully furnished. Housekeeping works to the highest standards.

We had mainly Thai food, which was outstanding throughout, as were the drinks.

In terms of activities, we really enjoyed the island expeditions to Koh Rok and Koh Haa, both of which were truly special. We also loved the sea-side water sports offerings (complimentary) and the very good gym and sports area (tennis, pickleball, basketball, table tennis).

Pimalai is a tropical idyll, and delivers on every one of its five stars. If you have a low tolerance for instagram culture and bling, and instead seek understated elegance and chilled luxury, this place is for you. Make the effort once, and you’ll end up returning, as we have and will yet again…..

Pimalai is located at the Southern tip of Koh Lanta, next to a large conservation area, so local development is restrained and constrained. Hence its location feels quiet and low key. It’s not a party area.

The resort owns most of (and therefore dominates) the 1 kilometre or so bay on which it is located. This keeps the beachfront very relaxed and natural.

There is a small village at one end of the beach that provides enough for modest local diversion, particularly alternative dining, bar options and a 7-11 that stocks essential snacks and booze. At the other end of the beach there are a couple of low key but delightful beachfront restaurants.

The resort itself is essentially in two parts: a beachfront area (with rooms & villas, beach bar, restaurants and pool + beach access), and then a jungle area which sprawls up the slope of the hill surrounding the bay (with villas, bar, restaurants, gym facilities and a huge pool). This ‘two parts’ thing, spread over a relatively wide area and with relatively low density resort development, makes the place feel quite sprawling as well as diverse in personality, aiding the feeling of peace and quiet.

The staff are mainly long serving, knowledgeable and very nice. That means service is really exemplary, charming and always helpful.

And the quality of things, be it food, drink, service, spa treatments, housekeeping and/or resort infrastructure, are all excellent, well delivered, and well maintained. The breakfasts are, of course, to die for.

Its worth mentioning that a relatively high percent of guests are, like us, repeat visitors. That really says something good about Pimalai. It’s amazing how content one can be just pottering around here; is it beach or hillside pool & view for today….?

Particular recommendations include the sunset cruise, any spa treatment and trying in room dining for an eating change. Also try the beach restaurant “Same Same But Different”, outside the resort: down to the beach, turn left, about 100 metres along, and you can’t miss it at the beach tree line.

The Pimalai Resort and Spa is not just a resort, it's much more than that. It's a little patch of Heaven on earth. This time was the second Time i was experiencing the place. First time i staid only 3 days, so it was a little short to share. So i came back for a one week stay. Breakfast is one of the most incredible i have ever experienced in a Resort, the beach is beautiful (and most important Not Crowded at all), the restaurant and bar on the beach at the sunset is something you will want to do once in your life, food is very good, the rooms are super modern and ultra spacious...in short, pure happiness.Regardless a little disappointment : the diving center really expensive for the region and service not memorable.

Wonderful experience from reservation until check out and transfer back to Krabi. We stayed 11 nights and had only planned to stay 6! Since the moment we arrived, Noii from reception made us at home and did her best so that we had a great stay. The 4 restaurants inside the hotel were so good that we barely left to eat somewhere else. The facilities are amazing and they do whatever they can to preserve the landscape and the wildlife in the hotel. The best thing was the staff. Now I understand the high evaluations... everyone was so nice and kind without being intrusive. Amazing how everyobe greated us and spoke to us. They were always there to attend your needs,from the beach staff to the housekeeping. The service at the restaurants was amazing and have not enough words to say how wonderful they were, especially Ambuss and Anee from the beach restaurant. We will surely return as this clearly a hotel to return as often as we can.
