Baan Somtum Sukhumvit

They may feel very grand and seem not authentic, but this is the place u get authentic som thum, the environment ,seating is well arrange and the sever is very professional.

Food is tip top quality, prize is very nice for such quality meal.

Authentic Isaan food from the north.. many of the dishes are unique. The beef soup-stew in creamy spicy soup was heaven….

What a lovely restaurant! The decor was divine and calming, and the waiters were extremely polite. I cannot say anything bad about this restaurant. The teas were sweet and different (for me at least) and the papaya salad was spicy. I highly recommend the fried banana blossom and the chicken wings

We had a super nice lunch here. The atmosphere, food and service were all very good. We ordered 4 dishes, 2 drinks and 2 desserts for about $35 usd. I highly recommend the papaya salad with young coconut, the grilled fish with eggplant dip and freshly made coconut ice cream. Will definitely return!

We didn’t have a reservation and had to wait maybe 5 minutes but in the mean time we could decide on the menu.
We shared some meat, fried rice and papaya salad which was ALL very delicious to a very good price!
For Europeans some dishes were a little spicy but not too much.
We will come back again because we loved it !!

Not know where to go for brunch, decided to come here. Order Laos traditional papaya salad, steam sea bass, spicy prawn soup with puffball mushroom and fried morning glory. The dishes are delicious and the fish is really fresh. Would really recommend this place. The server do converse in English as well.

My go-to place for Esan food. The taste was adapted to Bangkokian palate I would say so it's very easy to eat even for newbies. Very spacious with ample parking space.

My favorite dishes are Tum Luang Pra Bang with fermented fish, grilled pork neck, tod mun hua plee, larb ped, fried chicken wings and beef 'Oom' soup (very aromatic with all the herbs in the soup.)

Excellent food, great taste, and extremely friendly staff however if they were a little more attentive it would be great.

I came here for lunch and had an amazing time.
The menu has pictures of almost all the items, which makes the selection easy. You have to write down (select the items you want) your order on a sheet and hand that to the waiter.

I ordered:
- Laos Traditional Papaya Salad: 5/5
- Stir Fried Beef with Chili Paste: 4/5 (while I liked the taste this dish was honestly too spicy for me and I couldn’t finish it)
- Spicy Chicken Soup: 4/5
- Sticky Rice
- Chrysanthemum ice tea: 5/5 (this was amazing!)
- Coca Cola

One piece of advice: the spicy items might be too spicy for you 😅

Well known restaurant with several locations in Bangkok. First and foremost, you go for the somtam, which they have a variety of options to choose from. I went with the traditional style which was really good, with thicker strands of papaya than I’ve ever had. Topped it off with some grilled chicken and sticky rice, which just brought everything together. Big place with lots of parking and fast, friendly service.

Their papaya salad was different and delicious! Their food are pretty spicy and they offer 2 types of sticky rice and normal white rice.

Overall enjoyed the entire meal!

Happened to chance upon this restaurant on Google maps and it's the most amazing lunch i had in bangkok. Do try out their somtum with salted eggs and their crispy chicken wings! Awesome!

Restaurant for modern E-sarn food. Food is fresh and tasty. Clean and comfortable. Polite and well trained service staff. Prices showed on the menu are before 10% service charge and 7% VAT on top of that. Overall still reasonable, though. Ample private parking space. Credit cards are accepted.

I lived on Sukhumvit in 1990s and hadn't been back until now. This restaurant brought me back to the best memories I had while living here. I love Isaan food. This was the best meal I've had while back at 1/3 the price of inferior meals I've had nearby this week. Comfortable atmosphere and family friendly as well.

If you feel like having a nice somtum but not those on the road side or night market, then this is a place where you should stop by to have one. They have variations of somtum menu that you can choose from, but personally I like those served with sweet corn best. Aside, don’t forget to order a plate of grilled pork neck, which is super tender and juicy. Tried new menus on my last visit which is fried chicken and corn fritters. The corn fritters taste good, but I still prefer indonesian style corn fritters to this one, but the fried chicken is just so-so.

Excellent esarn food, easy parking, spacious. Always busy because of the quality of the food, quick service and fair prices.

What a hidden gem of Thai food in Phra Khanong.
Wide variety of dishes available in each category, Som Tum, Laab, Yam and soup etc. You might find a dish which you have never tried before.
All dishes I ordered taste very good and sophisticated, meaning that they are cooked so well having the balance between the tastes of fancy Thai restaurants and those of local reataurants.
It is really fascinating. I would definetely come back to try other menu and recommend to all Thai food lovers regardless of whether you are locals or foreigners.

I visited at lunch time and luckily got a table right away but soon, all tables got full so booking in advance is recommended.
