55 Pochana

I’m a tourist from California. I love to travel first for food and everything after that it comes with it too. I just happened to walk by this place and I noticed it’s busy and they have air conditioning and I needed a place to cool off and eat. So I didn’t want to walk anymore. I walked in and I got greeted nicely. The AC was nice and the beer was cold but let me tell you the food is even better. I don’t know why they have lower ratings but it doesn’t matter. I’ll definitely come back before I move on to my next trip. One last thing. The signs outside it says “FIFTY FIIFTH” if you see it walk in to this little heaven and enjoy yourself.

The oyster omelette is highly recommended!

All the dishes are generally great, paired with the beer. A delightful place to dine at!

Went there at 2+am after an alcohol infused night out near Thonglor and this is probably a drunkard review but with little options so early in the morning, 55 Pochana stands out! Excellent Thai food. The hot plate omelette was amazing and the fish soup was one of a kind with enough spice kick. Service was quick despite the crowd. Prices decent despite less competition in the wee hours.

Has always been my favorite Pochana during my Bangkok days. Must try menus are their Oyster Hotplate! Aside, their prawn salad, fried fish maw, shells with chili sauce and their pork intestines are also worth the try!

Fast service, reasonnable prices.

Very local, so dont expect high end service level, just enjoy the food and drinks!

This is a place of nostalgia for me. When I first moved to Thailand to work at the Bangkok Post, I lived in a condo around the corner. This cluster of restaurants on Soi 55 served up my regular lunch and dinner spots, especially after the street food vendors were moved off Soi 59 — where I first fell in love with Issan food.

55th Pochana became my perennial Friday night spot, pregaming for the now defunct Nothing But the Blues once in Thong Lor, or the also defunct Check Inn 99. I come here to remember a version of life once mine.

Sweat soaked, soaking up smog, watching people, drinking big bottles of Heineken on wobbly metal tables, admiring the hardworking staff, and buzzing with the electricity of weekend’s eve, this always felt like a special corner of the Sukhumvit experience.

The restaurant doesn’t seem to belong to any particular clientele — local, expat or tourist. That is part of its charm.

I often returned to the well of fried duck and basil, though I’ve never picked wrong when sampling their other Chinese-Thai fare.

I often surprised guests whom I brought here. So (relatively cheap). So good.

If you share my sense of aesthetic, a bit of grit and light filtered through booze; standing still as the world washes by, this is a wonderful place to spend the witching hour of the Bangkok night.

Great Khao tom (boiled rice) restaurant with mild yet flavorful tastes that definitely appeal to foreigners. Highly recommended: pad naam liiap muu saap (Thai olives stir-fried with minced pork), tofu and bean sprouts, and pork stomach with ginger and cucumber wrapped in roti with sweet black sauce.

Food was tasty and service was prompt. It was raining heavily and we were seated outside but that didn't dampen our food. Enjoyed this meal.

Authentic taste Thai food. Good quality of material. Cannot love on from these 3 favorite dishes. All are so superb!!!!!!

This little place has become big since I came here 8 years ago, however the food has remained the same. Anything you order here is good and I would go here over half the fancy well known Thai restaurants I have been to in the city. I ordered usual order crispy duck with basil and chilli, fried morning glory and Prawn Tom yum. This is a watering hole for the locals from all sections of the society as it is ridiculously reasonable. Do not leave bangkok without eating here.

I had one of the best Thai meal here. Especially the tom yum. Super yummy and thick.
I will return for sure.

Close to BTS Thonglor, ok price, ok quality, fast to serve food, i like it.

Waitress came back and returned me 100 baht when I overpaid. Popular Thai Chinese restaurant. Very busy at night. Shown pepper beef on hot plate .

Good Local Food in Sukhumvit Area

Cheap and good Thai Chinese stir fry. I think I am addicted to the deep fried pork intestines. Goes so well with beer. The fried pork belly is good as well. I would come here again
