Wat Chong Klang

"Wat Chong Kham" and "Wat Chong Klang" are a pair of ‘sibling’ temples, as they are located within the same walls, and both are symbols of Thai Yai culture.

Apart from their artistic beauty, both temples serve as cultural and traditional centers for the people of Mae Hong Son.

The front area is a public garden called Nong Chong Kham, used as a venue for various ceremonial and cultural activities according to different traditions.

My favorite temple in Thailand. Built in mid 1800s for Burmese monks who spent time mourning the death of a local abbot. Inside is all wooden including a bamboo Buddha. The wood gives it a more spiritual ambience for me as compared to the standard hard flooring and gold temples. Recommend going to the room on the left where there is a series of wooden statues also carved in the mid 1800s depicting key scenes in the Buddha's life including when he gave his son and daughter to a beggar as slaves.

Very nice temple this is a temple you need to see in Mae Hong Son. Its made of wood in Burmese style. Its a very nice temple made of wood. You must ask to in the museum in the main temple building. Its the door to the left you can see my pictures its amazing. If you need to visit a temple in Mae Hong son this is one of the temple you should visit. Its close to the public park and dam in the middle of the city.

Beautiful temple by day and stays lit up most night until 8:30 pm. Lots of statues and religious things to see. Very nice. Donation box for electricity. 👍 Iconic Mae Hong Son place to visit. 💖

Ancient Shan Monastery in Mae Hong Son

According the board of historical description: The temple was at first a pavilion for people to rest when they came to Wat Chong Mai (now in the area of Phra Pariyattitham School). Devote Buddhists then contributed money for the construction of the present building and the construction of the building lasted four years during 1867-1971.
