Mae Hong Son Immigration

This location is not crowded with tourists & the staff is so kind & so pleasant to work with. After visiting multiple immigration offices in Thailand, I must say this one is my fav. Thank you to all the staff for your compassion & understanding during our time in MHS 💕

A very nice place to get your visa extended. Arriving at the office, I was their only client. A very friendly lady attended me with a warm smile and the whole process only took a few minutes. Nothing compared to the offices in Bangkok or Pattaya. Very recommendable to anyone in the area!

Thailand in a nutshell!! Our guesthouse didn't register us so we were unable to extend our visa,the immigration officer was so kind and helpful that he called our guesthouse,made them pay a fine,ignored his lunch break and got us our visa extension within 90minutes,got to love this place. Make sure your guesthouses/hotel has registered you before applying, you may not get the same officer or outcome and waste a lot of time and baht.

Friendly and helpful staff. Very professional. Took less than 20min to complete 2 visa extensions. Google maps will lead you right there so no stress about the shy turnoff. The whole thing took 7.5h return from Pai (2ppl on one bike) including stop for food, gas and stretching of those legs. Beware of the road conditions which are dangerous at places, especially if driving to Pai after, about 20km from Pai heading down from the mountain there's a place with cracks, jumps + holes right after a left turn, be careful!!!

Went there to get my visa extension. The people working there were very helpful and friendly. They had enough time to help us fill out the form. Definitely the best immigration in the area.

Very friendly and relaxed service with generally not more then 5 minutes of waiting time.
The officers are always helpful and some have a good command in English.

NOTE FOR PAI:
There will be an Officer in PAi the first and last week of April, Mai and June.
Next time will be on the 5th of April.
Best to call MHSon Office for more information about Pai opening hours and where the office is.

Thought it is a bit tricky to find the small road* entrance leading to the top of the mountain where the immigration office is situated, its worth the detour as one is quickly finished with documents and can then spend the rest of the time visiting that lovely a bit sleepy City of Mae Hong Son, its famous central lake and its prestigious series of Temples.

War die Erste, sonst gab es keine anderen Kunden und musste dennoch erst einmal 15 Minuten warten bis jemand mir die Dokumente für die Visa Verlängerung gegeben hat. Etwas unorganisiert, der Mann hat lange in den Bergen von Dokumenten suchen müssen bis er die richtigen Papiere gefunden hat.
Eine Dame, die gut Englisch konnte, hat dann für ihn übernommen, danach ging alles auch zügig und professionell weiter.
Ein Passfoto hatte ich leider nicht dabei, dieses kann man nur in der Stadt ausstellen lassen und nicht im Office vor Ort. Musste also nochmals schnell in die Stadt zurück.
1900,- gezahlt, Kopien des Passes wurden mir nicht in Rechnung gestellt.
Da der Chef anwesend war, konnte ich mein Pass direkt wieder mitnehmen und alles war fertig, sonst hätte ich am Nachmittag nochmals vorbei kommen müssen, um den Pass abzuholen.
Dauer insgesamt: 1h 15min ; davon 40 min für das Passfoto in der Stadt.

Went at 1.00pm to extend visa two of us, we were the only 2 in there, they were a bit slow getting us the right forms but once we had them filled out the process was done quickly and professionally. We hadn't made photocopies of our passports they did it for us, 10 baht fee, take a passport photo with you and our landlord had registered us online that morning. Just remember it's Thailand and go with the flow. Pleased I did it there.

My experience with immigration office at Mae Hong Son was not great. I came in to renew my visa, they charged me for not reporting where I stayed. They threatened me and saying that they would put the house owner to jail. It was my first time And it was very scary to encountered something like this in someone’s land. I heard that Chiang Mai immigration were nicer and understanding of the situation since not a lot of people are aware of this. But not in Mae Hong Son. They treat you badly. I would highly recommend you to renew your visa elsewhere. I definitely have felt like I was being discriminated.

There are two sides to the people here when dealing with people from America they tend to be supportive and go over the top. However the way they dealt with my wife and her family while we were staying there was more than dismissive, it was down right horrendous and rude. These people have no compassion.
