Bao House Playa El Tunco

First time going to Bao House after a long time of not visiting tunco. A bunch of friends had recommended it to me for the past few months, so I had to visit.

The place is somewhat small, but just right for the beach. Really open and airy, which was great on a hot night. We wanted to sit upstairs originally but were told we (two people) could only sit at one table that was for two. We chose to move downstairs and they didn’t mind if we sat at a table for four. That was a little odd, but in the end we needed the space because we tried out a whole lot of the menu. In all honesty I was blown away by the food. Quality was on point with the ingredients. The prices are great coming from San Salvador where everything feels over priced. My wife and I loved everything from start to finish. If you’re looking for fresh, Asian inspired food this place is a must.

Only complaint we had was with the bao which could have had just a tad more of a punch of flavor.

Over all. Highly recommend this place and for sure, will be back in the near future.

Been craving Asian food in Central America and this hit the spot! Such yummy dumplings and I had the shrimp bao bun which was sooo good. We ended the meal with banana and Nutella dumplings which were to die for! Good atmosphere and our server Miguel was so friendly. Would recommend to anyone visiting El Tunco.

This is the only Bao bun place I've seen in El Salvador, and wow these are better than what I would find back home. First the size of these buns are big, we ordered an assortment of them thinking they'd be small. We were stuffed at the end but all of them were very delicious.
My top three Bao buns would be the pulled pork, bacon and pescado (which is mahi mahi). The bacon was perfectly crispy and had a sweetness to it which paired well with some chilli oil.

This Bao House was so delicious. I got to try the Pollo Teriyaki Bao, pork dumplings, and the banana Nutella dumplings. Highly suggest trying this spot out. They have an upstairs area that overlooks the road. Perfect for people watching.

The place has a really good ambient with really good music. We got the pulled pork bao, and the noodle bowl both were pretty good. Specially the bao was really nice all ingredients were fresh and tasty. Prices are good enough for the portion you get, but it was really good, so no complaints about it.

It took a little bit of time to get our food, but it was mostly because it was a bit full. I will definitely eat here again if I visit El Tunco again.

Absolutely fantastic food, everything is very delicious, but the portions are pretty small though. Prices are a bit high for the size of food you get, but it’s still worth to eat here once’s.

Amazing combination of flavors, colors and taste! Great environment, friendly staff. Definitely coming back to get a taste of all the menu.

The food is very good. We tried the bao and the dumplings, the place is cozy, and the service is very friendly. In my experience, every restaurant in El Tunco is a bit more expensive compared to other parts of El Salvador where I have been.

It does seem weird and a bit of a shame that the best place I've eaten in El Salvador ended up being an expensive Asian fusion place.

Generally, I pride myself on finding great value meals that are usually a cuisine of local origin and typically cost half what you get in a tourist strip. But, I felt like a night off tonight, and this had been recommended by one of the locals I rented my surf gear from, so I headed in knowing that things could get pricey.

They did. The portion sizes are not exactly enormous, and their biggest offering - the bao premium box - left me feeling a bit hungry still. It had been a long day of surfing, after all.

But thanks to the phenomenal service of the mesero working tonight, I found just the right amount of food. In addition to recommending the Bao box premium, he also steered me clear of a more expensive extra bao, and instead towards the siu mai, which was exactly what I'd been after without knowing it.

What's more, he went above and beyond in responding to my questions regarding what he recommended - not only suggesting the pulled pork bao, which was indeed fantastic, but also suggesting I have it with teriyaki sauce on the side (sauce which is usually reserved for the chicken). The result was pure bliss.

I paid $15.50US for my meal, without a drink - not a cheap outing. But in all honesty, its the most satisfied I've felt with my decison of restaurant in all of El Salvador so far.

First time I came here I was hooked. I’ve been travelling for 4 months and just constantly craving for good asian food and here I found it. Today I’m going for the third time and I’m sure this staff will deliver once again! 😅👌😅

Best food in El Tunco! If you have never tried Baos before I recommend you to try Pork Baos 🤩.
If you are into bowls... Shrimp bowl is my favorite... All dishes are delicious 😋🤤😋

I was so surprised to find an actual good asian restaurant in central America. We tried the bao bus, noodle bowl, and dumplings. All were delicious.

Good and healthy food! Asian cuisine, some gluten-free options as dumplings and bao bowl (picture) and other vegan options. Important thing is that you can pay with bitcoin and is a pet-friendly restaurant 🐶

I got these baos delivered when I was particularly lazy one day and they did not disappoint! Super yummy and the staff was very kind communicating about the delivery. I definitely recommend!

Really delicious food, and service as expected in el salvador (aka a bit slow). Had pork dumplings (10/10), chicken dumplings (8/10), pulled pork bao bun (9/10), a chicken bao bowl (9/10) and a pork noodle bowl (10/10). Price was decent and a change for the beach area. Would recommend and go again.
