Vitovnica Monastery

It's a beautiful 13th century monastery. It is located near the Vitovnica River. There's also a source of St. John nearby. The monastery was founded by King Milutin Nemanjic. The church is dedicated The dormition of the mother of god. The church was built in the style of Moravian architecture.

Peacful and spiritual place.

Wonderful place, full of spirituality. Father's Tadei tomb, St John the Forerunner water source and of course the church with its unforgetable celebrations were the main attractions, as far as we were concerned.

Calm and soothing. Place where you can rejuvenate and calm your soul. You can visit the grave of father Tadej, who was a spiritual guide of patriarch Pavle. There is also a spring near the monastery, which adds to the atmosphere of calmness.

Vitovnica (Serbian Cyrillic: Витовница), is a Serbian Orthodox monastery which is dedicated to the Assumption of the Holy Virgin.
The monastery is located in the hills of Eastern Serbia, on the right bank of Vitovnica River, some ten kilometres east of the town of Petrovac na Mlavi (Petrovac on the Mlava) and about 120 kilometres south-east of the capital, Belgrade.
The monastery was built by the Serbian king Stephen Milutin Nemanjić in 1291, after his victory over renegade noblemen Drman and Kudelin.
Drman and Kudelin had seized the region by force and turned it into an outlaw base from which they raided the neighbouring districts.
King Milutin founded Vitovnica as a token of gratitude for his victory over the enemy.

Here is the tomb of Father Tadei, who wrote wonderful books for salvation of people.

Prelepo iskustvo. Mali manastir koji odiše velikim duševnim mirom. Dočekao nas je čovek koji je predpostavljam crkvenjak, koji nam je tako lepo ispričao divne priče o starcu Tadeju od koga,Bogu hvala,smo imali sreću da dobijemo blagoslov. Porta manastira je jako fino uređena. Bogu hvala manastir polako se obnavlja i razvija.Sakriven je u samoj prirodi i zaista odiše lepotom i mirom. Zaista ga treba posetiti.
