Novo Hopovo Monastery

The best serbian monastery I saw. The frescos were really old and now they are starting with renovations. Must see the church, Dark and frescos are different to other monastariea.

Take the long route on foot, it's totally worth it

Beautiful monastery. There is Old one also. 5 minutes drive from there, you must see both. You cqn buy great rakina nand vino there, and take a walk through the woods

The Novo Hopovo Monastery (Serb: Манастир Ново Хопово, romanized: Manastir Novo Hopovo) is a Serbian Orthodox monastery on Fruška Gora. The monastery was built by the Despots of the house of Branković in the beginning of the 15th century. The first written mention of the monastery was made in 1451. This place was destroyed by invaders many times during our history and always reconstructed. During mid-18th century Dimitrije Obradović lived here. He became a monk and was given the name Dositej. He is one of the best known persons in Serbian history. Not many people know how he got the name Dositej. Now you know. The monastery has been declared a cultural monument of great importance. I recommend to you to leave your car here and take a walk to the Staro Hopovo Monastery. Enjoy the beautiful landscape.

Definitely worth to stop here. Here you can feel something special about this place. We will come back again.

Nature is amazing. I suggest to walk to the old monastery of Hopovo. It's only 2km but it is a good experience!

Small, old and very calm monastery. Not such touristics as the neighbors ones. I were a few times already, the place helps me to put my thoughts in order.

Old monastery from 15th century, worth visiting 🙂

Very intensive place. Worth to see, among the other things (old monastery, tv tower, the hills itself). Good short drink and honey at reasonable prices from the monks.

Beautiful Monastery. Wonderful surroundings. Monastery has nice shop with handmade honey, brandy, sweets, erc.
Close by you will probably see some unique rustic street tables with homemade specialties made by locals. They are wonderful people.
Worth visiting, especially if you are of orthodox faith.

Love it! Nature, amazing food, very clean! One suggestion they should add more staff(waitre) since it gets pretty busy when there is event going on.
