Quite a cool place.
Most skulls are missing these days but there’s still more than 50 built into the tower. There had been more than 900 when it was built but most have gone. You can see the indents where they used to be.
The tower is quite small - it only takes a few minutes to look around.
Ticket office is on the opposite side of the little stream.

Skull Tower in Serbia is a haunting testament to history, where the remains of fallen rebels are preserved in a unique and somber display. The site's historical significance, coupled with its eerie atmosphere, provides a sobering experience that leaves a lasting impression on visitors.

A really interresting place to visit, while in Niš. The ticket costs 200 dinars and there are also some souvenirs to take with you. The tower it self isn't that large and the stop to see it, takes no longer than 15 minutes. Enjoy!

The Skull Tower in Niš is a haunting and historically significant site. Learning about the grim history of the skulls embedded in the tower's walls is a sobering experience. The exterior structure, built around this macabre monument, stands as a somber reminder of the past. While it's not an easy visit, it's an essential one for those interested in understanding the darker chapters of history and paying respects to those who suffered.

A more unusual museum I have yet to find. A barbaric monument built by the winning Ottoman Empire from the skulls of the Serbian soldiers seeking independence after a nineteenth century battle.

Many of the skulls have been removed for burial, but quite a few remain.

English description inside. Not for the squeamish. Open every day except Monday at a cost of 200 Dinar. 30 minute walk from the centre or catch a frequent bus here for 60 Dinar.

Place of huge importance for Serbs, where we rise as a nation and carved our identity.

the monument is from the First Serbian Uprising, which, as a sign of revenge, then Turkish government in Serbia built from the skulls of the fallen Serbian warriors, led by Stevan Sinđelić, in the Battle of Cegr.

For me this SKULL TOWER in Nis, SERBIA is a very emotional experience to see. These Skulls attached on the walls of this Museum is very touching. It is said that these are skulls of dead Serbian Soldiers who fought for freedom. If i focused on these skulls i can only imagine how hard it was before if i go into details how they lived or survived. This is a symbol to show to the public so not to forget the history of this land. I was impressed that by this means these dead soldiers are kept remembered up to this present by erecting this Tower.

A beautiful historical place to visit. Very friendly staff, and a curator who is always there to share historical facts about the skull tower.

When I visit, the building around the tower was in repair, but it was possible to enter. Little is remaining, but it's enough, when you see and read, to feel the story. It's touching.

Visited Skull Tower the other day and am so glad that I did. You really don’t need long to see the site (maybe 15 minutes) and the history behind it is so interesting. Such a shame that many of the skulls are now gone (I believe relatives may have buried them but I’m sure people also stole some over the years), but other than that a really cool place to tick off the bucket list.

Historic place commemorating the battle of Cegar against the Turks in 1809. The skull tower of the heads of the heroes of the Serbians who fought and died is covered with a Chappell. The is free parking nearby and it is not far from the city centre of Nis. Several buses stop there.

A sad and impressive place about Serbian heroism and sacrifice in their fight for freedom ! For additional information, you should visit also, for free, Digital Presentation Center, near ticket office, in the same house, but in a separate room. From here, you can buy brochures in English and some souvenirs too. Entrance ticket (one adult, no discount) is 200 dinars, payable in cash. From NIS city center to this place and back, you can take bus no. 10. One ticket is 60 dinars, payable in cash, in the bus.
Cele Kula (Skull Tower) is the last stop. Working hours are from 10 to 16 during entire week (except on Monday, when it's closed) and 10 to 15 in weekends. Only pictures from outside were added in this review, but photos can be taken also inside ; in my opinion, this is a place for remembrance, respect and commemoration, not for taking selfies and photo ratings.

The exterior of the chapel is under renovation but that doesn't affect the experience since the major attraction is on the inside. The tower shows the worrier skulls and is a unique sight in the world. A fee of 2.5 euros is a bargain for what you will see inside. If you are a spiritual person you might even feel something that can't be explained and translates to admiration, respect, pain and gratitude to the people that lived here before us. Come and see this place as well as other sights in Niš. 😀👌

Well worth visiting. Although it once was a tower of skulls, it is no more - however still recommend a visit to learn more about Serbian history.
