La Tavernetta

We were still fresh from our trip to Italy when we first visited La Tavernetta, so let's just say our criteria for Italian food was at an all-time high.

Today, a couple of years and many (but still not enough) visits later, I can say with absolute certainty that pizza here is one of the best you will ever have - in Belgrade and beyond.

People here care about the ingredients and method, there's no stressful measuring and calculating, there's only top quality service, friendly atmosphere, wonders to eat, and, frequently, culinary experiments that staff will be happy to offer. You should most definitely accept the role of a "lab rat", if luck ever graces you at this place.

Take trolley buses No 28 or 40 or take a stroll outside over-expensive city center filled with mere excuses for food, come to La Tavernetta, order Paragina if you're a first-timer and don't forget to ask for their infused, spicy oil to drizzle over your pizza - you will thank me later. Or, even better, you will thank Nesha and his wonderful staff.

P.S. I found some photos, but the plates are mostly empty - for the reasons described above. There's only one mid-sized Quatro Formaggi waiting to be devoured as a dessert. Yes, dessert.
