Another in a series of shrines of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which houses the relics of Saint Zosim and Saint Jacob, known for many miracles. Around the monastery there is a beautiful beech forest through which mountain streams cross, while at the foot you can visit a mini zoo where there are different species of birds and mammals 😍

Beautiful monastery, really popular in recent times so it could get a bit crowded. The facilities are really well kept and improvements are being made constantly. The parking isn't an problem because of the new parking lot with a lot of spaces. There is accomodations available as well and a new guesthouse is under construction. I highly recommend visiting this monastery it is a great place!

Sadly, this beautiful place is being turned into a profit machine. It's all they care about. And the prices in the souvenir shop are insane.

Great place to visit. Peace, calm, clean. Enjoy the local guides. Big parking available. Go for a short walk through the forest and drink clean cold water from the well. Legend says it heals. There is a small monastery zoo, water mill, small restaurant.

This is one of the most modernized monasteries in this region, in a positive way. They have made a great surrounding for the visitors and streamlined access, so more people can access without creating crowds, whenever possible. Their personnel is very friendly and they also have a small zoo included.

Crowded, costly, but after the few years of my inital visit, the complex is transformed drastically, and all is looking much better. However, it was wonderful experience, and everyone should visit it, if in position to.

There is a mini zoo, and a path up the hill, where saint Zosim lived in a cave, which is now available for visit, and it is like little church with altar. Don't forget to bring an empty bottle up there to fill it with the fresh water. You have no bless to take a picture up there, but I was not informed about that.

We came to these miraculous place to pray and give respect to the Saints in the late afternoon, past 4pm on Wednesday. We avoided the usual crowds and had time to pray and have a prayer by the priest only for us and few other people. Souvenirs are lovely and for a believer a true comfort. Saint Zosim and Saint Jakob of Tuman pray for us all.

The Tuman Monastery (Serbian: Манастир Туман, romanized: Manastir Tuman) is a 14th-century Orthodox monastery in eastern Serbia, in the municipality of Golubac. It belongs to the Serbian Orthodox Eparchy of Braničevo. It is also referred to as the Tumane Monastery.

The church is dedicated to the Saint Archangel Gabriel. As of 2018, the monastery has six monks and one nun, which makes it the largest one in the Braničevo District. Because of the several historical healers who dwelled in the monastery, Tuman has been called "Ostrog of the Đerdap".
The monastery is situated in the valley of the river of Tumanska reka, 12 km (7.5 mi) south-east of Golubac. It is located in the village of Snegotin, though it is outside of the village itself, in the forested, secluded depression area of the north-west section of the Severni Kučaj mountain. South of the monastery rises the 591-metre-high (1,939 ft) peak of Crni Vrh Tumanski ("Black Peak of Tuman"). The forests which encircle the monastery are estimated to be over a century old as of 2018.Almost immediately after the monastery was completed, a group of the Sinait monks (meaning they originated from the Mount Sinai) settled in the caves in the vicinity. A large number of Sinait monks from the Mount Athos migrated to Serbia in the mid-14th century, fleeing the Ottoman invasion. They all settled in the caves throughout Serbia, due to their hermit lifestyle. Zosimus Sinait, later named The Venerable Zosimus of Tuman, headed the group which settled around the monastery. He was known for the extreme fasting and praying in his poustinia-rocky cave until his death. Zosimus' remains are today the central relic of the monastery. He is also known as Sinait the Miracle Worker and his day is observed on 21 August.

A beautiful Orthodox monastery near Golubac, founded in the 14th century by Milos Obilic. They say that Milos Obilic accidentally hit Zosim Sinajit, a hermit who lived there in a cave ... and when he took him to the vidar, he told TU MANI which meant that there was NO CURE. That is how Obilic raised the endowment in which the relics of the saint lie. Prayers are read, I attended one myself. There is a lot of parking space, surrounded by forest, watermill, swans, hives ... you can buy homemade honey, as well as some brandy and homemade wine, a lot of souvenirs.
