Awesome place worth visiting. Golubac is small but tourist-friendly, and the castle is just a few minutes drive from it. Worth visiting on week days so that you can take your time with it. Perfect scenery too.

We were there on Monday, when the fortress is closed to visitors, but even from the outside it looks amazing. A beautiful, well-kept fortress on the banks of the Danube, also surrounded by well-kept greenery and flowers. One of the most beautiful attractions in Serbia. I also recommend a car ride around the area along the river, very picturesque views. A must-see point on the map of Serbia, I will happily return to this place again.

The $10 million spent on this castles restoration definitely shows and it is on a par with similar castles in the UK. It is nothing short of spectacular and the displays are all well presented. If you wish to climb to the upper towers and ramparts be prepared for a strenuous climb, however it's worth it for the views alone.

Fantastic fortress, lots of it has been rebuilt, and work is ongoing with other findings from excavations. Some very steep stairs to negotiate but views worth effort. Some areas were closed for one reason or the other. We'll worth visiting

The fortress is renovated and looks similar to fortresses in Europe. There is a nice exhibition inside and also the surrounding of the fortress is nicely updated. It's a must visit if you're in this part of Serbia and Balkan.

Beautiful place to visit! Stunning views, well preserved and renovated! Cheap tickets, lot to see and learn. Amazing location on the riverbed of the mighty Danube river overseeing a beautiful landscape of neighbouring Romania. Definitely worht the ticket. Highly recommended. There are 4 different tickets, each classified as "tier". It is separated into sections, the higher the tier the more expensive it is and harder to get to the towers. We'll done for the restoration and presentation!

Massive 15th century stone fortress. Very interesting site and nice view of Dunav. Nearly 6 centuries of history and also a nice city park and sports facility.

As i am from Serbia, i wasn't aware of this beautiful piece of history. It's easy to find, tickets not expensive. There are 3 levels for tickets, 650(6€), 1000(9€) and 1500(12€) dinars, depending how high you want to go in the fortress. We took the lowest one, but for it it took us an hour and a half to see everything. Really good pieces of history and detailed texts about fortresses history, thru Ottoman, Austrian and Serbian empire and also one part dedicated to Miroslav Gospel, important Serbian Gospel book dedicated to parchment.

Very nice fort, located by the Danube river side which make its more beautiful by its location. Looks more beautiful from the outside than viewing while inside the fortress.

I was here 11 years ago and I was the only tourist just with a Serbian friend. The main road used to run through the fort and it was in a sorry state. Now it's amazing what they have done, as well as the restoration there's a cafe, shop and scenic gardens with the main road now diverted away. Great job.

Beware of poisonous snakes is the first thing that greets you as you enter the fort. A beautiful place overlooking Romania's windmills and the Danube. You have to climb the observation towers - red and black routes, listen to a tour in several world languages and face thunderstorms. It also has some of the best lawns in the country, I'm not afraid of that word. 😂

Extremely rebuilt, personal everywhere. The place is clean and nice. You can find a restaurant, a freshwater supply right on the entrance of the castle. You only need to go down a few steps to the water supply. Recommend stopping here, for a longer break. Pure history to visit. Parking is outside and it's free of charge.

One of the main attractions of Serbia and definitely the main fortress of the country is the Golubac fortress in the Dzherdap Gorge at the entrance to the Iron Gates. This place is a must-see for all travelers.
Inside you can watch a movie with various subtitles about this fortress.
Take water with you because I didn't notice a store there. You can shop in the nearby town, which is 3-5 minutes away by car.

Absolutely must to visit place in this part of Serbia. Old fortress renewed by the help of EU, with history related to Hungary and Poland, and of course with Serbia

A nice place to stop on the way to or from Belgrade. We only had time to see the lower part of the fortress and skipped the town but maybe next time. A beautiful cafe and park for walks.

Amazing experience and a beautifully reconstructed fortress. The whole ground have been built as a world-travelling worth destination and, in every room/tower that you visit are very well written and interesting stories and history in general of the area, the Fort and the people using it. Be aware that sometimes the Fort is closed without notice (it is always updated on the website when it happens) and not all of the fortress can be visited when it is rainy (for the higher parts and the higher towers you need to be in good shape and it is slippery and dangerous when wet). Highly recommended, I would definitely go back to visit the higher grounds (closed at the time of our visit due to weather).

Beautiful fortress with a museum that is informative and well kept.
The garden is amazing.
Keep in mind that, despite having 4 different kinds of tickets, you need proper shoes to access the highest levels.
Parking is terrible in case it's a busy day.

Loved the recently renovated fortress. Educational value is considerably high, as the main palace exhibit offers an introduction to medieval times.

If you want to enjoy the view from the highest tower, make sure to purchase a ticket that allows entry there. Take some extra time to absorb the history of the place - it's very well explained on wall panels.

You can also enjoy the permanent exhibition of the Gospel of Miroslav, one of the most important books of Serbia.
