Azuga gondola is an excellent choice if you want to get up to the alpine region without having a long initial trek. From the top you have many lovely walks/hikes in various directions. The views are stunning. The cost of a return ticket is 50 lei (August 2022) and that makes it a bargain in the region.

An efficient way to explore the Baiului Mountains, by foot or by bike. Azuga is less crowded than the more popular mountain resorts on the Prahova Valley. Price is fair, 50 lei back and forth, provided that you return in time for the last gondola that descends in Azuga, at 16.00.

The bike park from Azuga has 3 trails that are easily accesible by the gondola but still require a 10-15 minute ride uphill/downhill on a fire road to get to them.

They are marked but not the best way and when you get there for the firt time you need to pay attention or go with somebody that knows the place.

Good fun for the whole day.

The views of the surrounding mountains is spectaculat.

Free parking is available.

Used the gondola for MTB. Nice, friendly staff. They helped getting the bike onboard. I recommend no more than one bike per cabin as it’s tricky to get them out at the end.

WARNING for skiers (2018): there are two separate skipasses for the area, unless you are a beginner, get the telegondole skipass!! It is the only one that goes to the top of the mountain, the other one is a joke (only includes babyski and a short teleski).

Nice place, the slope is a bit hard for a beginner like me.
