I went with my wife, and we were really pleased with the portion sizes. When we tried the food, it was truly delicious! The best we've had in a while. The staff was attentive, and the restaurant was cozy.

Outstanding ! Is a must before leave Comporta. The food is delicious , fish is super tasty. The service is really really good. Additionally they have an awesome dessert. Very good at wines , they have a very large selection of them.
You need to try it!

Wonderful food and service, this is a must visit place if you love great seafood great service and great value… the dishes have that home cooked feel and very generous portions…. I particularly love the mussels and the octopus and prawn rice …. A must visit place

We were staying in Melides and stopped in Comporta to do some shopping. We looked around for a lunch spot and stumbled into Restaurante Sao Joao. It was outstanding in every way. Lots of locals come here which is the best sign of a great restaurant. We shared the ship/rice pot, shrimp in garlic butter, and a few other things. Love this place and can't wait to come back.

We had such a good meal on the first night here that we went back for more of the same on the second night!! If it ain’t broke, why fix it, as they say! Beautiful fish stews and enormous portions with very reasonably priced wine and excellent service. Definitely highly recommended

Absolutely amazing! The moqueca was unreal. Highly recommend. And you can just turn up! Get there early tho as it’s very popular.

A Comporta institution. The food here really is excellent and very generous portion sizes. I implore you to try one of the seafood rice dishes and the razor clams.

The service was good but waiting staff appeared to be rushed off their feet so it was a bit slow at times. Nonetheless, this was a 5* meal.

really liked this place. the portion sizes are huge (for 2 persons feeds at least 3 easy) and the seafood pots and dishes were really fresh and tasty. the shrimp/prawns were huge. we had shrimp, clams, mussels, monkfish, octopus. would recommend the rice pots. the pork ribs were also good, albeit a bit salty. side dishes like plate of chips and salad were good. servers were very nice, and the decor is nice. they have a huge selection of wines.

Cute spot with friendly staff. Fresh seafood, well prepared and generously portioned. I didn't have a reservation and arrived right before the dinner rush, but the manager accommodated me. Obrigado! The razor clams were especially delicious. The pork dish was great too.
