Not super touristic, I got there while scounting the map in Comporta. It's basically a place for the local fishermen, but worth a visit if you are driving anyway in this area.

Amazing views! You can check out the rice patties or walk the board walk. There are a lot of fishing sacks on the boardwalk and if you are lucky like me, you will be able to buy fresh fish, clams and oysters. There was a also a car selling home grown veggies/fruits/potatoes.

Special and quiet place.
Fishermans docks with their fishing boats and their modest net storage huts. All huts are tiny as they serve to store nets and other fising materials.
A true to life place.
Great for photography and art. Once you start photographing and catching moments is difficult to stop. It is an endless visual resource venue.
Inspiring and peaceful.
Careful with kids due to hnstable pavement and no fences, too.
Very simple and very zen.
Totally worth to visit any time/ day/ hour.
Was a lovely, positive surprise

It's always nice to find something unique near where you live. I had no idea this masterpiece of popular architecture even existed and is definitely worth a visit.

The pier is completely built on top of wood posts and branches off into multiple pathways in order to allow different fisherman boats to anchor simultaneously. It's an handmade marina built by the ones that need it throughout times.

A unique snapshot of fishermen's lives on a rickety pontoon. This delightful place is an easy bike ride from Comporta, on the west side of the peninsula with its 20 mile long beach. Porto Palafita rests on the eastern marshlands looking towards Setubal. A must visit place, with glossy ibis, flamingos (grey/brown), herons, stork, egret and a whole plethora of smaller marshland birds filling the estuary. Then there are the fishing huts, boats and the atmosphere of the place to absorb. Delightful, quirky and definitely unique.

Popular photography spot, I encountered 6-8 photographers there at sunset :) Check the tides!!! I was there when it was really low and then it's not good for photos! Also mosquitos are "angry" right after the sunset, so hurry up to your car!

Go here if you like human ingenuity to overcome life challenges to survive and nature intense energy of mud desolation. A lesson to fisherman's humility. Hint - the road access is not paved, a challenge for very low cars.

Very interesting place, last time I visited was about ten years ago, they have built a proper walkway through it now. It was a case of keeping your balance on the rickety old platforms before, so it's a lot easier to stroll among the jetties. Well worth a visit. I'd allow about half an hour there to have a good look around.

Wonderful viewpoint of the old fishing walkways and boats. Huge numbers of flamingos on the mud flats but a long way from the shore

Super for bird watching when the tide is right. Very traditional fisherman's port in the national bird park.
