The castle is quite small but worthwhile to visit nonetheless. The tower is accessible, from where you have good views of the village and the surrounding landscape

Belmonte is the birthplace of Pedro Alves Cabral the founder of Brazil. Within the castle walls we can see his family coat of arms of 2 goats among other things

Really cool castle and village one of the so called historical villages. Though the castle itself is small and not a lot is left of it what is the conservation and surrounding area are in great shape and definitely deserve a visit. As most of the surrounding castles it is on a hill so accessibility is not amazing but still doable with children

Another great example of architectural conservation and preservation in the AMAZING Portugal. The stinky local cheese you can buy here is good, and recomendable, to eat on the go, don't even think on taking 1 or 2 back home.

Very nice historic place, very well located. A lot of things to discover when taking part to a guided tour. Very nice for kids too.

Well preserved castle, has a mini museum and everything.
