Restaurante O Buraco

"If you want to know a place in Esposende for great pescado and mariscos, go to O Buraco".
This is the recommendation we got today, and nothing to say about it.

The entradas are served unreaquested once you are seated at the table: do not touch them if you don't want to be charged. We ordered water and vinho verde, then 2 fish soups 👍, a portion of sardines 👍👍, and the two octopus on the menu 👍👍👍, those ones came with plenty of side dishes (baked potatoes, fresh fried potatoes and cabbage). All super delicious, way too much for just 2 people, 30€ each the bill.

This ocean front restaurant is modest and authentic, served delicious and fresh seafood. Clearly it is very popular in Esposende as we had to wait a while for a table and it turned out to be worthwhile. I particularly enjoyed the seafood displace case where you can see the fresh catch and know that’s the chef’s fridge! The seafood rice dish was truly umami bombs delivered by the shellfish(crab, prawns, shrimps, mussels, etc). Every bite is with natural essence of the seafood. The staff was very friendly. He even used Google translate to help communicate in english which was very sweet. This bustling restaurant gave us an authentic Portuguese dining experience, celebrating local flavours and the ocean’s bounty.

Highly rated and definitely a must when in the area.

Parking a challenge in High Season.

Had the ‘Arroz Tamboril’ and is was soooo delicious! It was served in a big pot with rice, mockfish and seafood. Really recommend it! And to top it all the waiter was hilarious and very observant and chatty. When he saw me hanging my bag on my chair he immediately brought me a little extra table for it.

Great grilled Oktopus and fish soup. We didn't know we would be changed for bread and Butter.

We ate a 'rodovalho' and it was delicious. They suggested a white wine from the Dao region and that was also excellent.

For me 5stars depending on what you expect. When I saw the restaurant I expected to get fresh seafood in a very simple and local style. The same goes for the meat. And that is exactly what we received: friendly service also in English from the host and a good choice of local wines, fresh grilled seafood and meat in a prime fresh quality with simple local sides and everything for a fair price. Worth a visit

Very good restaurant, I can recommend it highly. We had the fresh fish (sea bass) from the grill with potators and vegetables and it was fantastic!

Fabulous, authentic restaurant. No nonsense. Long wait -worthwhile. Great food - tenderloin was very juicy and the rice with shellfish (Arroz de marisco) was tasty indeed. Very pleasant and patient waiters and waitresses for us struggling with the language. Only one young man spoke excellent English when we were there. We used some Spanish as well and received very quick replies in Portuguese. (No A/C or fan inside when it was around +32C outdoors.)

From the moment we walked in this restaurant a family of 7 we were welcomed making us all feel relaxed and at ease.
The food was first class, we all enjoyed our meals and one of my grandchildren even said it was the best steak he ever had.
It was the last day of our family holiday and a great place to finish.

Never had better fish before. Very friendly and funny team of waiters. Portuguese cooking at its best. Could not have been any better.

I loved it. The main dishes and the entries and also the wine de casa were great, nothing to change. A constructive recommendation would be though to reduce the quantity of sugar in the desserts. Apart that, well done ! I will come again and again to this amazing restaurant filled with excellent personnel and awesome service !

Absolutely brilliant and definitely the place to visit. Waiter was welcoming and really took pride in his work and making you feel as welcomed as possible. Food was a tastebud explosion and a real treat - I would return as soon as I could! A very special place
