I cannot praise this restaurant enough! I've been here for both lunch and dinner, and each time, the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. The food is impeccably fresh and delicious. Their cod and octopus dishes are truly out of this world. The cheese, bread, and overall service have also been fantastic. This place is a local gem in Sintra, far from the typical touristy spots. It's an absolute must-visit!

I had the most incredible lunch at Caricato.
Greatly situated with views of Serra de Sintra and close to the beach, what makes this restaurant special is the truly remarkable food and wine offerings. The grilled squid was an absolute delight, bursting with flavor. To make it even more special, the staff is warm and helpful which made us feel right at home. The cooks are undeniably talented; every dish is a feast!
Caricato is definitely my favourite restaurant in the area.

It was quite a long wait since we didn’t call ahead! But, I’m glad we wait for it! It was a small restaurant run by only 2 waiters and some chefs inside the kitchen! I love how my soft broccoli goes with the super octopus 🐙 Wonderful dinner! If I lived close by, will definitely go back. 🤭Great experience❤

Even though we didn't have a reservation they found a place for us. That was very nice. Very tasty food and great polite service. I can only recommend it.

Stumbled upon this place by accident but so glad we did. It’s a little hidden gem. Food was authentic & delicious, service great and the atmosphere is truly Portugal. We have gone back 3 times in 1 week.

This place is amazing, family run establishment with the perfect feel and atmospher. The food is great, and the prices are even better. Would highly recommend their specials as well as the octopus and the lamb. Best restaurant in Sintra in my opinion, friendly, cozy, and comfortable especially for tourist, and non Portuguese speaking people. The staff are incredibly friendly and will ensure u have an amazing time. They have a great selection of wine including thier great house wine, as well as a great menu, with kid and vegaterian options. I will say it is usually busy but the best places always are! This is a must vist place if you plan on passing through Sintra.

No wonder this place have such a great reviews. I've ordered a Georgiana steak (medium rare), it was so juicy and soft. Great food, great service. Local atmosphere. Good prices.

So happy I stumbled upon this place. The food was delicious and authentic and the service was fabulous. There is free parking in a lot across the street.

One week into our trip, this is by far the best restaurant we’ve been to! As the the only non Portuguese people in the restaurant we were excited to finally get some real food - and this did not disappoint! The octopus here is the best I’ve had in Europe and a massive portion for the price (we still ate it all) and their pasta was great as well. Dessert was also superb (sawdust pudding) and they were nice enough to write out what went into so we could try to make it at home. The bill for two, with wine came out to just $31 euros.

The waitresses we interacted with were excited to have English speakers and were kind, eager, and attentive during our meal. They let us Definitely the best service we’ve received in Portugal and just a really nice environment to have dinner in. Finally after our great meal, we tried to get an Uber home and failed because we were staying far outside of Sintra, and nobody accept the fare. We asked our server to call a taxi and she said fine just wait. Next thing we know she’s outside in her car and told us to get in and she’d drive us home. After she got to our hotel, she wouldn’t take any money from us. What an amazing experience that we’re still thinking of days later! I hope this review inspires someone else to enjoy this family-run restaurant and their amazing staff ❤

Definitely a place to go: cozy family owned restaurant with delicious portuguese food and away from crowded tourist spots, surrounded by locals and enjoying home made high quality food with great service! Don't miss out the octopus, it was amazing!

One of the best if not the best steak I ate in my entire life. Excellent service, very friendly. Best restaurant in Sintra, without a doubt. I HIGHLY recommend the detour.

A very nice place to eat in the former casa Madalena. Now known by the name: CARICATO.Nice, friendly and enthusiastic service. Very tasty steak for a good price.
