All I have to say is wow! Wow! Wow! The room we stayed in was incredible, the property was beautiful, the service was amazing and breakfast was great. Staff were so helpful and knowledgeable of the area. I would strongly recommend this hotel.

An incredible experience beginning to end. They had some construction that meant we needed to use a secondary entrance but it was clearly explained in an e-mail so there were no issues. Plenty of parking included in the price. My wife and I were warmly greeted by Rui who gave us an overview of the property and helpful hints about getting in and out of town and also to the local attractions. Cannot say enough about his helpfulness and professionalism. The grounds were beautiful with property to walk around and enjoy. It felt so private and secluded as though you were tucked away in the countryside, but actually only a short walk from the thick of Sintra. The room was clean and well appointed, with a lovely view of the courtyard with the property looking up with the palace in view as well. A couple hundred meters from shops and food in Sintra, and a short walk to city center. Breakfast was included and we even met the property’s peacock who came around to join us for breakfast! If and when I come back to Sintra, I will not be looking for alternate lodging, this was an absolute hit. I cannot recommend highly enough. Oh and they even give you a couple pastries in the room on arrival with a couple small bottles of wine (for a nominal fee) to enjoy on any of the lovely outdoor spaces. Only regret is we had very limited time in Sintra on our visit as we were travelling around Portugal. Thank you for everything to Rui and the rest of the staff.

We had a beautiful stay in Sintra and loved Casa Holstein. The location is absolutely superb in the middle of the old village of Sintra. Central location but totally private on a hugh ground of land, with a little private forest and a nice pool area. Breakfast was very good, our room was lovely decorated and cozy. Team was super nice and very helpful giving advises and organizing trips in Sintra. All in all a great time !

The hotel is in the heat of Sintra. Easy to come by car or train. Lots of space for cars and very close to the station. The rooms are tastefully decorated in a nice old fashioned way. Good breakfast and welcoming atmosphere throughout your stay. The terrace and swimming pool would be great for summer. The nearby restaurant called casa da raposa was an excellent choice if you are looking for a romantic dinner.

This hotel is as gorgeous as Sintra itself and as much of an experience. The hotel grounds have beautiful gardens and paths to explore, hosted by the resident peacock Oscar Rodrgio II (yes, that is his full name). The rooms are perfectly clean and each uniquely designed. The architecture of the hotel buildings are stunning, and if you spend some time by the pool, you have a perfect view of Castelo dos Mouros and Sintra (I highly recommend enjoying a glass of wine at night here to see the castle illuminated).

This being said, the best experience at this hotel was the amazing staff. They are incredibly professional, kind, and all around lovely people. We were always greeted warmly and were given the best tips on where to explore and what to do. Let me also add that the breakfast was so delicious, and the cocktails made by the bartender by the pool are exceptional.

We will absolutely be returning to this hotel on our next trip to Portugal. It was such a stellar experience. 5/5 stars, 10/10 recommended.

The hotel is located very close to the city center. The hotel has a nice swimming pool, two gates for cars and people entrance. The area inside looks like old Vila. We had room for two people. It was quite a big room but I need to say that due to historical aspects the ceiling was a bit low. I would add a trash bin in the room, e.g., for food/dirty napkins. The breakfast was good. Personnel was welcoming. Overall, nice place to stay. The road was closed, so if you want to reach it by car, you need to take a steep turn and enter the gates (photo attached). They are not green but grey.

Fit for a princess! This hotel boasts a true regal experience for all visiting Sintra- viewing the previous summer houses(palaces) of past nobility leaves one quite temped to experience the abundance and opulence that Sintra oozes. Casa Holstein provides this experience: rooms/ suites are opulent and tastefully decorated. Attention to detail is impeccable. The hotel and staff make you feel like royalty and are fully attentive to all needs! The breakfast served is the best I have experienced to date- fresh and locally sourced produce is used and is simply delicious! Exploring the grounds revealed lush greenery and a beautiful peacock at the bottom garden greeted us. There are grounds available to play boule and a beautiful swimming pool with sprawling views of sintra mountain and beautiful palaces and in the distance a view of the sea. The location of this hotel is prime! Old world charm for all princesses and princes at heart.

Beautiful grounds with a gorgeous pool, petanque court, and the coolest yoga fitness space with a view. We stayed in the villa which was lovely and secluded because it was set very far back on the property.

It’s a beautiful estate with a long history in a lovely seeing. The walled/gated compound used to belong to a noble family (duke), and Queen Elizabeth was said to stay here once. There are one main building and a guesthouse building, plus several cottages. The main building is privately used by the current owner but the guesthouse and cottages were converted into the hotel. Almost every room has a little patio or outdoor sitting areas that you can relax and soak up the view and sun. It has a big yard and meandering path to various parts of the estate, including lemon tree orchard. The place is tranquil and quiet, the view is great, the location is convenient, the parking is free, and the breakfast is superb. We stayed in room #9 and loved the room and bathroom. Definitely would love to go back Sintra and stay here again

STAY IN SINTRA rather than just making a day trip from Lisbon. It’s absolutely breathtaking, and this accommodation is spectacular. We stayed in a garden suite for added relaxation and it was a highlight of the trip. Waking up in a castle with birds chirping is pretty nice and everything we wanted for a stay in Sintra. Enjoy the (included) breakfast in the beautiful dining room, or on the patio outside of it. Plus the location is ideal, just a short two-minute walk to centro. Wonderful hospitality and a 10/10 stay!

Staff was amazing, and the Villa is absolutely magical. Felt like we had a Secret Garden scenario all to ourselves. Worth every penny and my wife and I will absolutely be booking again when we return. The green gate to enter is at the end of the alley, downhill, that Google directs you to with a doorbell for service, so hopefully that clears up for you the only confusion that we had.

A truly spectacular place. Made to feel very welcome by staff from the moment we arrived. The Duke of Edinburgh suite was gorgeous and we had a great time at the pool. The Hotel staff were really great in upholding and rearranging my reservation as a result of COVID-19. If I’m ever back in Sintra I would stay here again and recommend to all my friends.

Beautiful hotel and the staff were so welcoming; going out of their way to look after us. Such a central location, everything was perfect including having a parking spot in Sintra which is not to be sneezed at!😂

Lovely and peacefull hotel with stunning hotel grounds! Large pool with nice views (water quite cold in March). Friendly staff. We had our room in separate small building so it was perfect. Not sure are other rooms as lovely. If I ever return to Sintra I will come here again.
