Wow! Just one of the top restaurants in Portugal for me now. Located in pretty location, graceful interior, spacious, what a friendly staff today were serving our lunch, we appreciate so much that we were welcomed to have it even if we came almost to the closing time. But the most important is the FOOD! It is so so so delicious, that we were just murmuring our pleasure loudly, from everything what we have ordered - everything was so so delicious and interesting, presentation of food with little details also worth applauses. Thanks amazing people, who make this food. But manteiga de cabra - just blowed our mind away! That was incredible and new! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wines - such a big collcetion. Thanks a lot! We will come back 50 more times 😅 to your restaurant. Yumm! 😋

Situated in on the best places in Amarante, this restaurant provides an amazing experience.
It’s very easy to park nearby and on the way from your car till the restaurant you can enjoy the beautiful sight next to river.
When you arrive at the restaurant you immediately get the feeling that you’re in for a treat. The place looks very cozy and modern at the same time. The staff is very friendly and thoughtful.
The selection of traditional dishes is very well balanced, providing good options for the meat lovers as well as the fish ones. The wine selection is also huge, typical from the majority of good restaurants in that region.
The food it self is very well platted and as tasty as it could be.
To finalize, the price is quite appealing when you consider the place and the food quality.

A wonderful restaurant alongside the Rio Tamega not far from the town centre. The upstairs restaurant is tastefully decorated and the service was excellent. It is obviously a popular spot for locals, which is a recommendation in itself! The menu may not be huge, but the quality of the food and the size of the portions outweighs everything else. The starters were beautifully presented with an array of choice that almost made a meal in itself. The recommended choice of bacalhau cooked in bread with a cheese sauce was wonderful - the photos of the outside and inside do not do it justice. The local Vinho Verde was the perfect accompaniment to the meal! If you are visiting Amarante, a meal at Pobre Tolo is an experience you should not miss!

A lovely restaurant serving modern upscale twists on Portuguese food...without upscale prices! We went for lunch and had their price fixe for 10€ which included an appetizer, soup, main dish (grilled sea bass or pork cheek) and drink. Everything was absolutely delicious - the pork cheek was especially good! Fantastic location along the river. The interior is tastefully decorated and the staff are warm and friendly. Will be back next time we visit.

Excellent food! We were there with kids, staff was very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection. We had tornedor and duck confit. For dessert we had tiramisu, it was good but the way it is presented makes you eat all the cream before mixing the other parts and flavors. Overall a great experience!

One of the best steaks I've had! Half-portions are certainly large enough for one person. Couldn't even finish mine. I can certainly recommend this restaurant to everyone! Superb price/quality, great hospitality!

Place is very nice and elegant, almost on the river. Food was good and in right portions (not too much, not too little) I was there for a business dine and we all had a lot of space. Suggested!

When your hometown brings you the best of the north !

Every time I am back home I do go to here. Every time the wine selection doesn’t goes wrong , every time the selection of apetizers brings in full on mode the northern flavours with a modern twist!
The meat Perfectly Cooked. Plus, sanitary wise all the measures are followed and they definitely do the extra mile ! Go there , seat and support Portuguese business !

Great food, huge portions. Quite reasonable prices for the quality. Definitely get the 1/2 portion if you aren't super hungry.

A quaint and interesting restaurant with an elegant comfortable decor almost on the river Tamega. The food is divinely presented and in generous portions.A must visit when in Amarante.
