Hotel Monverde

Dreamiest wine hotel of all time! The intentional rustic+modern architecture lets the beautiful landscape be the hero, the rooms are both upscale & comfortable, and the food & wine (from Quinta de Lixa) are to die for. Not to mention helpful & gracious staff. Proximity to Porto & Duoro Valley is convenient as well, could not recommend enough!

Beautiful stay and luxury accommodations in the wine experience suites. The only downside was the buffet dinner on Christmas Eve because the Chefs menu is SO MUCH better. Do it with the wine pairing and absolutely have the wine tasting.

Fabulous hotel and location but could do better for a true 5* experience.
The good: rooms, views, wine tasting , breakfast, bar food (cod burger is worth a try!)
The bad: tv in room placed right in front of the window partially blocking the amazing view. Could add a coffee machine in the room. No lifts. Water in indoor pool rather cold, outdoor pool closed during low season. Seemed a bit understaffed

Stunning and peaceful. The rooms, spa and grounds were top notch. They happen to have a sports car club meeting when we were there. Another plus for my husband.

I mean, holy smokes! What a great place. We felt very lucky to be able to stay here. It was a five star experience at a very decent price. Our room was excellent, the pool very relaxing and the dinner and breakfast delicious. The staff was very friendly and made us feel right at home. The only small downside was that the staff were slow to clean the used plates and cups by the pool side, which gave a messy look to the pool. And that you gave to wear a swimming cap in the inside swimming pool. But everything else was above excellent.

Fantastic place and location, rooms are spacious. One star off for not being able to regulate hot water in the room and the fan not working.

Didn’t want to leave. Amazing amenities on site, great food and wine, and their breakfast buffet was well worth the add on. It’s a very relaxing hotel that I hope to visit again sometime.

It is an absolutely gorgeous place! Everything was very tasteful and we enjoyed our stay here very much. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves wine and likes to have a relaxing time.

Great hotel in north Portugal. Set in a wine producer with spectacular views over vineyards. Our suite was very cosy and had all sorts of amenities. Small swimming pool and decked area with sunbeds and area to chill out with a drink. Even had a chimney for the winter. Hotel has a spa, gym and a communal swimming pool. They had a live DJ session at the swimming pool when we were there so that was really cool. Breakfast was ok but it’s probably what lets down most the hotel in comparison to the rest of it. The staff was really helpful and attentive. I will certainly return to the hotel in the near future.

Amazing experience! Everything was perfect : top room with individual swimming pool, fire place,… Restaurant is great. Went every night. Portuguese fine cuisine. I do not eat meat and the fish was very good !! All the employees are nice and professional!! Well done !! We will come back

I stayed 3 days at Monverde last week and everything was perfect. From the front desk assistance to the laundry service, everything was fine. I do recommend this venue for everyone who wants a 5-star wine experience allied to gorgeous food at a cozy place.

Hands down the most relaxing trip I’ve been on! The prices are perfect. We got the 4 course tasting menu and they ended up include 4 full bottles of wine with our meal. We did a wine tasting the next day with Daniella and learned a TON of things. They spent two hours with us and even included some small foods to explain how pairing works. Rooms were nice and he whole place was very peaceful.

From the moment I checked in and been welcomed with sparkling wine as a welcome drink, everything in this hotel was amazing.
A complete 5 star experience all the way through.
Apart from amazing wines, the food was great and the staff were super friendly and helpful.
The pool and spa are also a nice touch to complete this experience.

If you’re after some down time in your travels, Monverde is an excellent choice. We stayed for just one night, the setting, ammenities, breakfast and and added spa treatment, were all great value and exceeded our expectations.

Wow. That’s all i have to say. Booked the suite with the private pool and was not disappointed at all. Everything from the start was perfect. They took us around the hotel and the vineyards showed us everything then took us to our suite (suite 44). The room was fabulous, can’t believe it’s a 4 star hotel. The service was on a another level, there was no need to even say what room number we were, they already knew. Spa is amazing as well, sadly limited to only 45min a day but i get it, they must do that because of the pandemic. Then to top everything off, the vine tasting was amazing, a must do. 10/10 experience and definitely coming back as soon as possible.

Very nice hotel with an amazing architecture. Great rooms. Small issues, not avoiding the 5 stars rate: reception does not take our calls in some cases, the wine experience was not surprising (as it was supposed in a wine hotel), gym is not really a gym (just 4 machines in a corner). Still the hotel concept is really different and great. Breakfast was nice. Friendly and flexible staff. Worth the visit and the experience.

Lovely place with excellent conditions and a modern design. Very comfortable rooms and main building with pool and bar that helped during the hot days.
Could easily be a much better experience if the management and staff had more attention to detail and improved some aspects.
Closing the pool bar at the best time of those hot days to enjoy wine and the view to the vineyards before sunset was unexpected. We had to order ahead everyday as the bar closed around 19h
Wine experience would have been inexistent if it wasn't for us helping ourselves. No wine or wine tastings were offered throughout our stay. Cellars and tasting rooms were closed to visitors. what a shame...
Staff were constantly riding buggies in between the main and room hotel compounds because they are somewhat far apart, but never offered a ride despite the blazing sun during our stay.
Some staff looked somewhat inexperienced but always friendly. And having to hand in a card to get pool towels and arguing about it if you forget about the card in the room seems unnecessary.
Frequent WiFi issues should be solved. We even had our checkout delayed because the reception had no internet.
Nevertheless, it was great experience!

Beautiful property, welcoming staff and incredible food and wine!

We spent a couple of days at Monverde and we wish we stayed longer, the property is truly stunning, situated between all the different grapes they have. The room was immaculate and so comfortable. All the staff were so welcoming and helpful. The food at the restaurant was delicious and they had a great selection of wine.

I highly recommend Monverde! Great job!

A hidden gem, this is about a ~45min drive from Porto and well worth the journey into the countryside!

We came here first on our Portugal trip, and the place was an excellent pick for accommodation

Nice Hotel for enjoy some time together. But the highlight was the visit of the restaurant. The price was very affordable and the service was just outstanding. We was planning just to have a short Dinner but we stayed almost to the end as we had such great waiters wich we had such great discussions about the wine that the time just passed like nothing. We was definitely not the last time here!
