This is the best boat tour you can get. Not only is it eco friendly but also the boat is super spacious. It takes a bit longer but that's an advantage because you have all the time you need to explore the coast line. The crew is super friendly and explains everything.

Very nice boat trip to Silves along the Arade river. Time to spend in the old town of Silves. Thanks to the guide who did everything to make us feel at home. We had some rain on the way back, but all the nice views, story's and birds were absolutely amazing.

We chartered the sun boat privately for a birthday. Riccardo was very helpful and creative in setting up a really nice menu. He provided snorkelling sets for 12 people and we even could bring our stand-up paddle. The service was excellent and enjoyed our trip on the sustainable (solar) boat.

Very nice trip from Portimao to Silves. Ricardo is a good sailor and guide. Wine tasting at Arvad on the way back, also perfect.

What a superb afternoon. Boarded boat at Portimao, we were four of a total of about a dozen. Set off up the River Arade about 12.30, immediately served a drink (choice of wine, beer or a soft drink). The wildlife along the river was beautiful and the scenery superb.
It wasn't long before a lovely lunch was being served. Starters were a choice of a tuna dip and a spicy sausage. This was followed by a good salad followed by piri piri chicken. The desert was orange slices sprinkled with cinnamon. The quality was very good and the portions generous. Drinks were served with the meal.
Our host, Carlos, was both informative and funny and it seemed no time at all had passed before we pulled in at Silves for 2 hours to explore this beautiful little town. The steep walk up the castle was well worth the views. If you've not visited here before it's well worth it.
All too soon it was back to meet at the boat for the trip back to Portimao. Drinks were served again on the way back with little cakes.
The best excursion I've taken in 10 years of visiting the Algarve, it was also the best value trip I've taken. Many thanks to Roisin, Carlos and all at Alvor Boats.

Lovely boat, very comfortable & relaxed - the sunset cave tour was great. If you want to go into the caves then you might want to book with one of the smaller boats, but that didn’t look as comfortable as we were on the Sunboat.

The sunboat tour is a lovely, relaxed experience. The river side is green and Silves is a lovely city. Ricardo knows a lot about the area & history and will answers all your questions.
As the engine runs by solar power, it’s really quiet and environmental friendly.
It is absolutely worth the money.

Best boat in the Algarve. Quiet, calm, pollution and exhaust free. Good service and very pleasant staff! Really experienced and skillful boat captain. Book if you are not into noisy speedboats (like all the other tours provide) and if you want absolute comfort and class.

Our trip to Silves was a great experience today.
Ricardo is very likable and not only the good captain or good guide, he's the host.
The solar boat is very silent, so you can enjoy the nature around you. It's very relaxing.

We did a private hire (11 person boat) to take us up to the Arvad winery for tasting and lunch, rather than all the way to Silves. It was a spectacular day from start to finish and enjoyed by all members of the family from my parents to my young neice & nephew (3&5).

Excellent communication from Ricardo beforehand to confirm the details and a friendly warm welcome when we joined his boat. Having grown up in the area he has interesting historical info to share as we made our way up the river. Whilst Silves is a lovely city to wander around and enjoy lunch which we did by road, I would highly recommend a visit to the winery by boat so you can fully enjoy the wine without having to drive.

Due to weather conditions didn’t have time to join the Benagil caves trip but would be top of my list next time. I would highly recommend Sunboats - their environmental credentials also extend to the companies they partner with eg Arvad use an electric buggy to collect you from the jetty. Plus Ricardo is a thoroughly nice guy!
