Retiro Do Saloio

While I was visiting Sintra someone that worked on the place where we were staying for the night, upon us asking for some restaurants to eat dinner she recommended this one claiming to be cheap and really good. As you can see from the photos all of us ordered different things because then we could taste a little of everything and let me tell you that the food was amazing, everything was so good from the appetisers to the desserts, plus the waitresswas very kind and in case we weren't full with all the food she said we could repeat something without paying more. I definetly recommend this restaurant to everyone passing by, it's a must go to actually! 👌

So impressed with this place! We ate there last weekend and were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming member of staff who continued to smile and treat us well throughout our meal. The food was original and delicious, Portuguese style but with some creativity on the part of the chef. Loved the chocolate orange cake too! The price is very reasonable as you get everything included if you have the daily menu. Thank you!

This review has been a long time coming. I had no idea that such a small village was hiding this amazing finding! I seriously want to go back there again the next time I visit Portugal.

The food was amazingly tasty, as well as the desert. The staff was above polite and friendly (the owner also speaks german and his wife french). When I ate everything in my plate I was offered seconds without extra charge (we are happy when you are full - the owner said). The prices are more than fair and I just felt really well there.

I can only recommend everyone who is travelling nearby Sintra, or even Lisbon, to make a detour and have lunch with these amazing people.

The owners are very sweet couple, they speak German as well.

We had a full course including desert and side dishes for 15€ per person. The price should not mislead you, the food is very good and service is so friendly.

They disinfect every table after a customer and being careful about the COVID-19 rules.

This is by far the best restaurant I've been to in Portugal. The taste was good, friendly, and even the desserts were the best. Will definitely visit again.

Good food and an extremely friendly owner. We had a nice time and we will be back for sure. Nothing fancy but a local restaurant with good food. Excellent value for money. And the orange cake was delicious:)

This place is a gem! We ordered both the daily specials -- one bacalhau com natas and one chicken curry. Both were exceptionally delicious and outstanding value. The service was just perfect. I highly recommend this place to you.

Friendly and attentive staff, we went back a second time!

Everything is really good. I had steak and it was great. The salad dressing is amazing. Also every one of the desserts is really good. The overall atmosphere is really cozy and the place is full of locals. I am not from around here but coming here was not a mistake.
