Have only visited to pick up bolos de berlim. There is always a line but worth the wait! They are only available 2x per day so your research before you go so you know what times. Inside area looks very nice but haven't dined in yet .

Best bola de Berlin I have had in Portugal. There is hours to get them fresh and after 16hrs is difficult to get them. 11-16 are the time they make them.
The filling is still warm and the cinnamon sugar on top are the best. Not to oily compared with others.

Wasn't quite sure what we got in line for but when the line is 40 deep at a pastry shop you know their doing something right. Took 30 min to get to the counter but it was worth every second. This little hot deliciousness is a must. We made the mistake of ordering two, for two people.....go ahead order more, you won't be sorry!

Definitely different from the ones you get on other regular patisseries. The filling is a different recipe and the outside is covered in sugar as well as cinnamon. Worth trying.

Basically we travel from Porto to Viana do Castelo to try it 😅
There are only two times in the day that the sweet comes out (11am and 16pm) and you will probably have to queue to buy them but it’s worth every minute of waiting.

We enjoyed our visit to this iconic bakery and cafe. Unfortunately we were too early to enjoy the bolo de Berlim, which are not available apparently until after 1130. We had great coffee, a pingo, and a pastel de nata. Two each for €3.90.

Brilliant berliner. But they are cash only and i was told this after waiting in the queue for 30 mins although the ATM is just opposite to it and i didn't have to stand in the queue again. But it would be helpful to have a signage outside.

I guess this is the most popular bakery in Viana do Castelo. You can easily identify it from the long queue of shoppers. There is also a cafeteria here, where you can order coffee or wine and some delicious baking, of course.

Great little hidden treasure of Viana do Castelo. The Berlin balls are incredible and only come out two times a day. I believe 11am and 4pm. You can usually tell by the long line up down the street. Well worth the wait!

The best "bolas de berlim" I ever tried!! There is a valid reason for the extremely long queues. Must try if you visit Viana do Castelo

A classic café in Viana do Castelo. Worth a visit for a rare trip to the past as the furniture, and the whole saloon are decades old but aged beautifully and very well taken care of. Well worth to try it's very famous pastry "Bola de Berlim" and an espresso! Bon apetit! ;)
