My favourite restaurant in Ferragudo that we went twice in our three night stay in the town. The service is amazing and the squid and shrimp skewer plate was fantastic. Also had the piri piri chicken and that was delicious. Good wine selection, one of only a handful of places that accept credit card in Ferragudo. Gets busy around 8pm but service is still excellent and fast. Highly recommend as must try when in the town.

Gorgeous restaurant with lovely friendly service. When we sat the waiter brought a tray of different starters to choose from rather than just ordering off the menu (this is however still an option). We loved it, it was good to see things we may not have chosen otherwise. We chose sheep's cheese, bread and olives. We had shrimp and octopus kebabs as our mains and the green wine, which was particularly exquisite. Prices where really affordable too.

Really authentic Portuguese cuisine, as soon as we sat down the service was fantastic, We were presented with a selection of starters like fried cuttlefish in breadcrumbs, sheep's cheese, bread and olives. Everything was very well cooked and very tasty. Drinks arrived in a matter of minutes and we ordered our mains. The kebabs were substantial in size and has very succulent chicken. The ribs and steak were also very well cooked and prepared fresh on site, which was evident as we could see the meat being prepared. Overall a very satisfying meal. Also given the substantial amount of food, and excellent service, the price was one of the cheapest meals we had. I would strongly advise reserving a table though, otherwise you'll be disappointed.

An seemingly out-of-the-way place but always packed and rightfully so. This restaurant is amazing. From the owner, to the friendly staff, great service, to the amazing food. This place was booked for two days straight, we had to make our reservation for the third night we were here, so jump in this early because you must go here. Along with your bread they offer the fried cuttlefish strips. They were so good and fresh we ordered two more as starters. We also got the clams as starters and our waiter, noticed we were out of bread and brought more to soak up the broth from the clams. The grilled lamb chops are so tasty and plentiful. We also got the Breem, the chicken kabob (which was huge), the chicken piri-piri (which is just a half chicken, cut up into pieces), and the tuna. Everything was out of this world. Don't miss going to this restaurant.

Love this cozy little restaurant in Ferragudo.
They make grilled seafood - which is not as common as we thought in Portugal. From what we observed, the Portuguese likes to boil and steam their seafood.
That being said, we were happy this restaurant prepared fresh grilled squid, shrimp, and seafood for us. Put simply the best seafood we ate in Portugal. For desserts, we tried the home style caramel pudding and the Algarvian tart made out of fig, almond, and carob. Big thumbs up for both.
In general, the portions were generous, service was good and unpretentious.
On a side note, make sure you try the cuttlefish strips when you’re here.
If you’re heading for dinner, try to come before 7 as this is when they get busier.

This may be the happiest place to eat in Ferragudo. The staff are so friendly and attentive.
It is certainly exceptional value.
We have eaten here on previous visits and twice this trip.
We usually decline the covers and I have a meat dish while my wife has fish. We are both always pleased with our choices.
It gets busy so book or be prepared to queue.

We were lucky to enjoy our dinner in quiet (that is rare for this place). Tasty meat and huge portions.
And in the end you will get a drink from the house.

This was our first night out in Portugal and it made the day! We loved the food and the atmosphere of this cozy restaurant. Super friendly and helpful waiters, that work hard to satisfy the guests! This restaurant offers a lot of freahly caught fish from the nearby harbor and also some meat or vegetarian dishes. You definitely get what you pay for and I'd say a little more! You should definitely check this place out but don't forget to book a table, it's really crowded!

O Velho Novo never fails us. We love coming here for a high quality seafood meal and wine. Great service... just a wonderful restaurant.

Superb friendly service, excellent food and reasonable prices

Fantastic restaurant. Not only the food is great, the service is fantastic. We arrived with the restaurant pretty much full, but the waiter quickly managed to get a table for us ready. The prices are very affordable for a yummy dishes. Portion sizes are more than decent. We had a big plate of meat + fries, bottle of red + some cake and got some brandy on the house, which was a really lovely treat. We definitely recommend this place. It’s very popular which only confirms how good the food is. If you’re there in the high of the season, I think you’re better off booking in advance as even in March with significantly less tourists they were busy every night. Really great place!

Cheese, olive and its sauce were delicious. The meats could be more cooked. You should try the vine.

The staff is very friendly. Especially the very handsome/cute guy with short hair (the boss' cousin). My friend and I had a crush on him 😂 we are the ones that charged our phone/batteries in the restaurant 🙈
