Very ancient and large church, from the XIII century, at a time it was more important than the cathedral itself, having deserved the preference of the king and thus earning the rank of Royal Chapel. Its ceiling stands at 24 metres high and is, therefore, higher than many cathedrals. As for the interior, it is richer than most. Very impressive.

Part of the Chapel of Bones tour. There is a whole section reserved for the topic of birth of Jesus where every piece of artwork, sculpture, modelling depicts the event.

Beautiful church and monastery worth an hour of your time if you have it. Very well preserved Gothic with many other styles present in the chapels. Walking inside gives you the feeling of time traveling. The chapel of the bones will invite you to think about life and the miracle of enjoying it while alive. Very nice staff.

Beautiful church with lavish appointments & artwork. The Chapel of Bones is intregueing with a gilted model of the church nave.

Very impressive mix of baroque, roccocco and gothic styles along with moorish influences. Entrance is free and definitely worth a visit, especially on a sunny day when the sunlight shines through the glass-stained windows in various colours. Make sure you visit the heavily gold-clad altar towards the back and to the left. Good example of when gold from Brazil appears to have been widely available to show off the power and influence of the clergy during the times of the inquisition during the 16th century.

After renovation works in 2014-2015 the museum is now taking place above the Chapel of the Bones and features paintings from Francisco João and António de Oliveira Bernardes, also featuring sculptures from XVI and XVII and jewelry from the same time.

Beautiful church, inside and out. If you are in Évora go check it out and go to the upper level to take some nice shots!

This precinct including a temple, museum, and chapel is an Evora must see. Rescued from ruin and beautifully restored, the igreja has sumptuous carvings, murals and religious icons. An ideal place to sit and contemplate the extent and influence of the church.

A true piece of history. Along with the church you'll find the Bones chapel, the a museum with arts and old pieces, and the church itself that's impressive with it's statues and a big altar made in bronze (i believe) that will surely make you say WOW.

Even for someone like me that doesnt have a religion or even consider myself christian, it was a very pleasant experience as I felt myself in front of history.

Totally recommended... the attendants were very nice and friendly to me, and it just cost 6 eur. If you're in Évora, you can't miss it at all.

This is free of charge and has a beautiful marble altar, refreshingly different.
