If you love history this is well worth a visit €8 to get in. About a hour half walk around the old ruins of a Roman Town, with English signs to explain. They have done it so well. Such amazing site and so peaceful. Lovely cafe. Also museum to look round, picnic area. A great walk close to a beautiful Waterfall.

Wow!!! Such an unexpected surprise. Very well persevered 4th century ruins. The mosaics are in fantastic condition, and the team here continues to maintain and restore them. The entrance is easy to find and the shop has maps that guide you around very easily. If you enjoy middle age history don't skip this opportunity.

Wow! Beautiful site. Much larger than expected. The museum was very interesting and had lots of artifacts. Dog friendly except for the indoor museum. Free parking.

Great tourist attractions right outside of Coimbra. One of my favorite starting points in the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. I didn’t get as far as I liked but I’ll try again next year.

What an important piece of history that is still being uncovered. Good footwear is advised and awareness of weather. Plenty of room to roam and helpful staff. On site museum is good. The site is incredible especially if this interests you.

Amazing, I'm from the US where there is no relic older than like 200 years because of the earthquakes. So many mosaics. This was awesome, and don't forget to go to their restaurant, it's got good food, and we got served quickly.

There is a bus to the site that leaves at 9:35am from Coimbra and arrives at 10:15am. There is a return bus at 1:25pm. That is the final bus of the day at time of writing. To be honest, it's a good idea to visit between 10:15 and 13:25 as it's getting hot at this exposed site by early afternoon and there's little shade to be found. The site is remarkable in that it's been discovered in such a preserved state although this city almost certainly extends for large distances under nearby towns and villages. The House of the Fountains and the arch of the aqueduct are the most impressive parts.

This stop on our journey was so fantastic! It actually made me want to become an archeologist! Lol well in the since of things to do when I retire. They have uncovered the most amazing ruins and have opened it for display and we really enjoyed the education!

Beautiful ruins that take you back 2000 years in history and connect you with the daily life of this region. Well kept amazing mosaic, like Instagram from 2000 years ago. I've never seen such mosaic 'out' in their natural place. Normally they are brought into museums. A treat!!

This is a review of the on-site museum. The museum alone is worth a visit and nicely complements the fabulous ruins with well-thought-out historical displays. Every aspect of early Romano-Lusitanian (Portuguese) life is presented with explanatory text and numerous artifacts- some quite unique.

Very extensive Roman ruins. Well worth a visit. Good visitor centre and cafe. Sometimes there is 'Roman day' when local people dress up and do re-enactments.

I highly recommend this place. My biggest mistake was coming at the end of the day and not having enough time to see it all. Typically people can spend five hours here. I would recommend coming with 2-2.5 hours to see the ruines. Also read each plaque. It gives such good insight and can really help you picture what was once there.

We stopped here because we saw one of the brown historic markers on the highway. What a wonderful unplanned side trip and a great way to break up the drive between Porto and Lisbon. The museum cafe is decent and they even have their own wine! We loved walking through the excavations and learning a bit about the ancient history of the region. Make sure to drop a euro into the box to turn the fountains on!

Free for those in a wheelchair with assistant. Sadly impossible to get around. So my assistant wandered around whilst I sat in the sunshine listening to the birds. Museum really interesting. Café okay but tourist prices.

The ruins were fascinating. Good information was with each part of the ruins. The path around the ruins was fairly intuitive.
The museum was nice. The scale model of the site as it probably was provided good perspective

Really fantastic find, very good prices. Small museum is very informative and the site is vast. It was a big town so lots of important buildings with wonderful mosaics completely uncovered. Lots of good information boards, all with English translations.

An unexpected trove, this site is incredibly rich and diverse. If you re into archeology, this is a must. The location is also sited along a very long walk, but also center of a 5 km walk which you can cut in half. And it s just 15 minutes outside Coimbra.
