Ecovia do Vez - Passadiço do Sistelo

Just incredible well marked hiking trails all starting in a charming little town. Recommend getting there early for parking is limited on roadside. Plenty of shade and places to pop into river to cool off. Watch out for cows on road into town very winding and there could be a big horned cow just around that blind corner . Just an hour and a half out of Porto and we’ll worth the drive ,

We loved it - very picturesque. However, we were cycling and one thing that made it difficult towards the end near Sistelo was the bouncy rocky and steep stretch where we had to push our bikes up. This section is not fit for cycling so I would recommend avoiding it and going on the road for the last 7km.

Hell of a hike! We did the 20k from Arcos. The views were fantastic! The river was with us for almost all if the hike. Very relaxing to listen to.

Very calm place, view are amazing the drive a bit long, but great place for hiking.

One of the most beautiful places to go hiking. Absolutely recommend it.
It has some slopes "ups & downs" which is always fun to do.
The water is crystalline and not cold at all.
Worth going back again soon.

We did the third part of the route (from Vilela to Sistelo, about 13km) and it took us around 4h with a short picnic and taking photos. When we came to Sistelo, nearby the end of the route ladies helped us to get a taxi to get back to the car. NOTE: Phone connection in Sistelo is not stable, we couldn't get the taxi ourselves. The price was fixed, 15EUR and there was a small queue (it was Saturday). The route itself is great, highly recommended! My dog was super happy!

Always by the river, simply wonderful, it's an open air museum.

Beautiful and magical. If you have to time, take a taxi (by the medieval bridge in Vilela or in Arcos de Valdevez) and walk down the 11 km (more until AdV) along the Vez river. Much of the way is along passadiços (which are built wooden paths), so it is not hard. You will be rewarded with a peaceful and stunning hike as you hear the Vez river. Highly recommended.

Boardwalk is not continuous. Lots of shade. Welcome reprise in the hot summer months

A unique setting inside the natural park of Gerês. Unique views with water, secular trees, nice walks, ...

One of the best river landscapes in the country. Worth the walk both ways! Excellent for a picnic half way! Beautiful....

What a beautiful river! Clear waters over a bed of smooth rounded stones, reflecting the heady verdent vegetation, and providing so many opportunities for a very safe paddle or swim.
The footpath is nearly completely smooth and level with much if it being boardwalk.
The path extends about 32 kilometres, but apparently there is a bus service which runs adjacently which can be used if become a little lazy or whish to spend longer relaxing at one of the beauty spots.

Very beautiful river route but for me a bit difficult to cycle in a lot of places north of Arcos. Don't be put off though. Just know that you might have to dismount sometimes.

Very nice walk. Come prepared for 11km. Bring grippy shoes for inclines, there is risk of slippage.

One of the best places for hiking or, even better, to ride a bike.
The path follows the Vez River and is absolutely amazing.
