One of the largest museums in Portugal. The museum has many exhibitions and models of the railway. There are also many types of real trains of different eras and purposes. In some of them you can enter and feel like a passenger of another time and class. There are also a virtual train simulator, a small excursion train, video films, etc.

Been there with our two children, 4 and 6 years. All of us liked the museum. Museum is very interesting, from small things to lokomotives, president train and royal train. Having a ride on kid train was a lot of fun. All the staff very friendly, involved and already ready to tell something interesting. Definitely worth dropping in for 1-2 hours.

A Train Enthusiast's Delight: Exploring the National Railway Museum in Entroncamento

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the National Railway Museum in Entroncamento, and it was an absolute treat for train enthusiasts and history buffs alike. If you have a passion for trains and are eager to delve into the rich history of Portuguese railways, this museum is an absolute must visit.

One of the highlights of the museum is the opportunity to step inside old carriages and gain a fascinating insight into how trains appeared in the past. The museum is thoughtfully organized, providing a comprehensive narrative of Portugal's railway heritage.

During my visit, I had the pleasure of bringing along my 7-year-old nephew, and he had an absolute blast. The museum offers an engaging experience for young visitors as well. My nephew was thrilled to explore the various exhibits, interact with the displays, and get a sense of what it was like to be aboard these historic trains. However, the highlight for him was undoubtedly the train ride at the end of our visit. It was a delightful way to conclude the museum experience and left a lasting impression on both of us.

The National Railway Museum in Entroncamento offers a well-rounded and captivating journey into the world of Portuguese trains. The exhibits are carefully curated, providing a wealth of information and an authentic glimpse into the country's railway history.

Whether you're a seasoned train enthusiast or simply curious about the topic, this museum offers something for everyone.

What an amazing place to visit. The staff are awesome and so willing to help. When we arrived, they asked us if we traveled there by train and we showed them our train tickets. So we got a 50% discount on the entry fee.
The displays are fantastic and the history so well presented. So many locomotives and coaches to see as well as other items of interest.
Visit this museum, you won't be sorry.

Large walkable museum that allows you to go from one building to another. Dozens of large locomotives, engines, and cabins to explore. Detailed multimedia and signage in English, Portuguese and other languages.

This museum tells a beautiful story about the history of trains in Portugal. I was very impressed by the size and high quality of the displays.

Caution: be very careful crossing the railroad tracks as it's a live track. Real trains run through the middle of the museum. Hold your kids close and don't let them wander by themselves!

Amazing place, history about the Portuguese railway past and present. My suggestion is to bring food and do a picnic style meal in one of the train wagons available it!

We found this museum by chance when we were waiting for our train to Tomar. The Electric Central is a beautiful historical building, visible from the train station. Beautiful.

Like old trains? Like steam trains? Like industrial museums? You'll really enjoy this! The principal national museum for Comboios de Portugal--the Portuguese train system. Part of the museum is a preserved roundhouse with about a dozen steam locomotives, going back over 100 years to the first trains in Portugal.

There are also historic displays of old railway-station technology, and a variety of other exhibits, plus a restored royal train with all its beautiful cabinetry, etc.

Definitely worth seeing!

nice museum to visit with kids, or with time. kids really like to wander around and discover all the trains. with time, you will have a lot of history to explore, and some funny facts. staff is super sympathetic, and you can notice that they like what they are doing. go by train to have a 50% discount and bring YOUR meal to experience to eat in train restaurant. store could have some historical merchandise, such as tickets or posters with historical teasers, ex: "fim da linha". really enjoyed it
