It's really quite and peaceful place to sit at night

Great view. Not much of a castle, more like an ancient ruin, it's great. You can drive all the way to the top, right by the wall. No ticket required. Very few people when we were there.

Besides a tower and part of the castle wall not much is left of the former Templar Castle of Castelo Branco.
Nevertheless don't let this stop you from visiting this place because you're rewarded with views which are simply amazing. Especially to the Southeast where you can see a conical hill topped with the Ermida de São Martinho (what looks like a tower is actually an obelisk/ geodesic marker).
Maybe have a closer look to the watchtower itself and pay some respect to the effort of turning massive granite rocks into a wall some 800 years ago.

Hell of climb to get there but the view of the city from on top is so amazing...definitely worth it

Beautiful town to visit. Clean,well looked after. Local produced wine,cheese and all sorts of goods also crafts. Very friendly locals. Charming town. Must visit and see.
