Unbelievably moving experience. Museum director a passionate advocate for the stories Stalag Luft III being transmitted to children and grandchildren of the Greatest Generation. Home of the Wooden Horse and The Great Escape films. Unreal experience for the daughter of a US co-pilot experiences.

A must see for WWII historians. A very well put together replica of a POW barracks and memorabilia from WWII and the inspiration for the 1963 movie The Great Escape. Support the site with your visit and keep the memory of this terrible time in our history alive.

Very interesting place of history. We should never forget these places exist, and we need to educate ourselves of history.

What a great museum and memorial! The Director gave us an English language tour, which was very helpful. He is so knowledgable, and you can tell his museum is a labor of love. He has all kinds of cool artifacts - many he found himself through excavations or metal-detecting - from WW1, the Polish Uprising, and WW2. He has even researched with survivors of the POW camp to ensure all the information is correct. Learn how the real events of the Great Escape movie actually occurred, in the place they happened! Highly recommend!

We didn't do a guided tour and I'd like to go back again to see more but they're very nice, speak English and very informative. They only take cash so go prepared.

A heat stop for a mornings worth of information. The opening time is 10.00hrs. The staff we friendly and well informed and we had the tour in English. You are shown the museum and explained about its history and about the escapes that took place from the camps. A reconstruction of a POW hut. Then go out to se the tunnel 'Hsrry' from the film great escape. Amazing to see how close they were to the guard hut. Tour takes about 2 1/2 hours and not good for wheelchair users as you go into the rough woods.

This was an incredible experience to visit a place with such historical significance. The Museum Director Mr. Marek Lazarz provided me with a great tour of the Stalag camps. He showed me where my uncle was held as a POW back in 1944. Highly recommend this place for all with interest of WWII.

I have been wanting to visit this iconic place for many years and despite it having been destroyed after the end of WW2 the staff have managed to pull together sufficient information, artefacts and displays to deliver a great story.

A little gem of a museum & well worth a visit. The memorabilia from the POWs was fascinating and very moving. Staff were friendly and very well-informed. If you can, make sure your trip includes the museum, the remains of the huts, the memorial and the railway station. Brillianr!
