We had the privilege of visiting a remarkable historical landmark. During our visit, we were fortunate to witness a significant event taking place – a live mass or religious ceremony was in progress. The combination of this historical site and the ongoing religious gathering added a unique and spiritually significant dimension to our visit, making it a truly memorable experience.

DIFFERENT PEOPLE, SAME FAITH. Just like everybody else I prayed to God with what I want in life yet i always end up devastated😔 Every time I prayed to God it doesnt turned to what I expected. BUTTTT you know things worked differently with God, its always magical!!! To now, I still believe in Him. I'll just wait the magic to happen with God's Grace. HAVE FAITH!!! Come to Fort Pilar and PRAY🙏🙏🙏

Zamboanga City is celebrating the La Hermosa Festival every October in honor to our Nuestra Señora La Virgen Del Pilar.. its a religious shrine (historical) where Catholics go and worship.. also even non Catholics.. because we all believe that we are under the protection of Mama Mary.. there are some stories of miracles told by ancestors.

Also called as the Real Fuerte de Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Zaragoza (Royal Fort of Our Lady of the Pillar of Saragossa), Fort Pilar Shrine is an outdoor Roman Catholic Marian shrine located just outside the Fort Pilar museum.

The wall is dedicated to Our Lady of the Pillar, the patroness of Zamboanga City. The faithfuls are allowed to offer and pray to the statute of Jesus located at the center of the wall. A closer look at the right side of the statute of Jesus is a relic of St. Charles of Borromeo, the patron saint of catechists, catechumens, seminarians, art and learnings.

At the left side of the entrance is for lighting candles. Candles of different colors and meanings can be bought outside the shrine.

I recently visited Fort Pilar and was blown away by the rich history and stunning architecture of this landmark. The entrance fee was reasonable and well worth it for the experience. The fort itself is beautifully preserved and offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the region. The exhibits inside were informative and well-presented, providing valuable insights into the area's history and culture.

Additionally, the nearby basilica is a solemn and peaceful place to practice your roman catholic faith. The serene atmosphere and beautiful architecture make it a perfect place for reflection and prayer. I also appreciated the picturesque surroundings, including the stunning view of the sea. All in all, Fort Pilar and the nearby basilica are must-see destinations for anyone interested in history, culture, and architecture, or for those seeking a serene place to practice their faith.

What a great way to honor the Lord Jesus by putting up the shrine where people can pray and give praises. I am blessed to have been able to visit this place. For Catholics and religious people this is such a nice place to spend when in Zamboanga.

Last weekend was my first time to stroll in Zamboanga City. From the City Hall of Zamboanga, I just walked going to the Port Pilar Shrine for me to explore the area and I was able to see some familar company names and government regional offices. After walking for about 10-15mins, I arrived at the National Museum of Port Pilar however the Museum was partially closed (as of this writing) for renovation. Then I went to The Port Pilar Shrine and prayed. Afterwards, I bought some souvenirs - shirt and ref magnets- from Zamboanga to a souvenir shop located right next to the Shrine.

time, this is a great site to visit, which is about 20-minute ride away from the airport.

It looks like a little Intramuros. There’s no entrance fee in the museum. Only camera phones are allowed inside for picture-taking. Taking videos is prohibited.

There are also food and pasalubong stalls outside.

A must-visit place when you go to Zamboanga City. The La Virgen del Pilar or Fort Pilar Shrine is known to be a sacred place for the fellow Zamboangeños to offer prayers and thanksgivings.

A very solemn and holy place. A must visit if you go to Zamboanga City and you must try to experience going to mass at least once. Rumor has it that during the seige of Zamboanga City, this shrine was relatively spared from the damage that befell the city.

The relief of Our Lady of The Pillar on the wall of the Port is beautiful. A good historic place to give thanks and ask for good grace. Mass is held on the open area in front of the image of Our Lady of the Pillar.
