I’ve used the services here twice, both times for applying for passports. The consul is a very nice, approachable person. Professional. As I live permanently in the Philippines, he was able to give me some extra information about current affairs, and changes in terms of local immigration laws. The consulate itself is clean, with lovely guards who are always happy to talk to you while waiting. It’s easy to make an appointment, pretty much for immediate date needed.

For the embassy itself for me that rating is reasonable coz as long as u have all the required documents there's no doubt to get Visa, I only had a bad experience of the interviewer he is not approachable and very mean, I understand that I did not arrange my documents accordingly and did not properly check the ID sample but I think it's too much to for him to degrade applicants, firstly he insulted me , and secondly embarrassed me infront of other applicants If I am going to rate him it would be 2 .

The following account is from my experience with BLS Poland and Polish Embassy in Manila, as well as the stories I have heard from similar couples. All statements are of my own opinion.

If you're a Polish-Filipino NON-MARRIED couple, you will waste your time if you apply for a National D Visa.

Statistically speaking, your application will be rejected, your appeal will be rejected, you lose EUR 160 and 8 weeks of time. Almost nobody gets approved.

This is true of our case as well as MAJORITY of others you will find by talking to couples at the BLS waiting room, as well as on the Polish-Filipino Facebook group.

If you call BLS and ask, they will give you incorrect guidance that a Polish citizen can "invite" a Filipino partner with a notarized letter saying you will cover travel expenses for your partner, but these letters are meaningless and have no impact in the application process whatsoever.

Even if you have been in a relationship for years, you have cohabitated for months or years, Polish Embassy in Manila disregards your relationship and does not care about E.U. directive of family reunification that promotes family unity and safeguarding the rights of families.

They do not acknowledge common-law relationships, or boyfriend-girlfriend relationships.

They also purposely do a humiliating thing where you are not allowed to appear with your partner, even if you are living together in Philippines. They reject your family structure, will use security to disallow you access into the office.

In the "interview" (interrogation), they will subvert the life plans you have made with your spouse, and tell your spouse things like "oh, he supports you? You should have your own job, you shouldn't depend on a partner" (paraphrased from the uninvited life advice given by one of the interrogator).

They will interrogate your spouse, not from the intention of verifying your relationship, but for the purpose of power-tripping and humiliation, looking for any reason possible to deny your application. They have made applicants cry from rude treatment.

Machine-gun style questions, putting words in your mouth, not allowing you to finish your statement, disrespectful condescending behaviour.

And when your application is purported to be missing something, it is rejected and you must apply again, and pay again, for the privilege of being processed. And you will be kicked out of the queue and must restart the entire waiting period.

In Canada, when I went through this process to sponsor a past partner, in the event of insufficient proof or missing documents, I would receive an email instructing me to attach a missing document, my application would be pending the new document, but it would not be discarded. My priority position in the queue would remain, and I would not have to pay additional fees.

Further, even though National D Visa lawfully allows up to 1 year in Poland, the Polish Embassy in Manila treats allowed visa-time like a SCARCE resource.

You will be asked to account-for and prove every single MINUTE of your stay in Poland with transportation and hotel bookings, anything less is considered "doubt".

In Canada, with a simple letter like "we are cohabiting and need more time to prepare for marriage", I was able to secure a 6 month tourist visa for my partner, followed by another 6 month tourist visa, followed by another 1 year tourist visa. We never needed to pay for notarized letters, we never had a rejection, it was a simple process, and we were treated with human dignity.

And back then, my finances were much worse, I barely had savings, so I find it hilarious that with my green financial stability today my partner is being denied a visa.

In my view, the treatment at Polish Embassy in Manila is beyond sanity and a shame on the country of Poland.

When I share with my family in Poland how Polish couples are being treated, they gasp in disgust.

I apologize on behalf of Polish people for the mistreatment you are facing. I assure you, all Polish people and government services are not like this.
