Hof Gorei Beach Resort

I stayed there 14 years ago, i don't know how it is now but looking at recent reviews with pictures it brings back a lot of fun memories. It was my first time visiting the Philippines, and my now wife suggested we stay on Samal island. It was very inexpensive, we stayed in a stilted hut, had a personal assistant that would come when we rang a bell. He would set up dinner on the beach for us, bring us food from the main resort, arrange our travel excursions around the island (bat caves, waterfalls, motorbike tours around the island). Don't go there if you are the type of person that only stays is 5 star luxury hotels, this place is for people that like peace and quiet (we hardly seen anyone else the whole week we were there) and people that like nature up close and personal. There are a lot of steps to climb, so you better be in shape, which is great if you are a fitness buff.

I love the place. I enjoyed the stay and privacy we get. Tho the foods are really expensive. I hope they have cheaper options for those travelling on a budget. Love the ambiance and the design of the place.

Majestic place with superb butler's service. The sunrise and sunset were outstanding. The foods are great the amenities are super. I can highly highly recomend the place to.my friends.

The place is great if you want to take a break from work and outside the busy world. They have wifi but can't hold enough. They have their own restaurant, but I highly suggest you bring your own snacks and necessities when coming to the resort. Their staff are friendly and accommodating. There are assigned butlers in every room, so you wouldn't have to worry about your needs during your stay.

I didn't know there's a good resort in Samal Island 🏝 awesome place.

Beautifully scenic garden and ocean views! My Fiancé, her parents and I had a wonderful time at Hof Gorei. The staff was very friendly and they even waited several hours after the latest pickup time to transport us to the resort (due to onforseen travel delays on our part). For all those who stay here we highly recommend saying hi to Jeanne (Manager/Developer), she was one of the most amazing parts of our stay!

My ex-boyfriend booked us in this resort 2 years ago. His main reason was because we had a personal valet. But! not only did we have a very courteous and helpful personal "butler", the place was very clean and dinner at the shoreline is just amazing! Reasonably priced food, friendly staff, nice place to snorkel, we enjoyed our stay a lot. The only reason I gave them 4 starts is it can be challenging to walk up the stairs to your room if you are not physically active to climb it although they have several rooms that are not high up there. However, the feat is well worth it if you like to look at the ocean at sunrise or sunset. Swimming pool needs to be maintained too if you like to take a dip there. Now, married to my ex-bf, we look forward to going back this year.

We really enjoyed our stay. Very friendly staff, good food, nice beach. The staff will really go the extra mile to make your stay pleasant. The neighbor resort started a karaoke at full blast, I didn't even have to say anything, the butler already told me that they called the owner and it will be solved shortly. Maybe the nr.1 resort at Samal. Thank you!!

Hof Gorei is the place to go if you wanted a break from the city life. Perfect place for families and pets as well! Food is great, beach is clean and refreshing, staffs are very accommodating, and we also had the chance to meet and chitchat with the friendly owner. Overall, this resort is highly recommended! Will definitely come back to this paradise 💖💖💖

The place is amazing. A mix of gardens, a pool and the beach. The food is awesome, you get your money's worth! The staff are friendly and ready to serve and make you comfortable. My butler Charmaine was exceptional. I would recommend this place to my family and friends. I can't wait to come back! Kudos to the owner!

I love this place ! We visited this place last Dec 13-15, 2016 and it was an awesome experience for my family. The boat transport from Sta. Ana wharf to the resort was smooth with helpful crew. Welcome drinks was a nice add on, and the personal butler who welcomed us was great. Russell (our butler) made sure that all our needs were taken care off. The place is clean, cozy, romantic, and has that jungle theme that makes the place a lot more appealing. Of all the things we love at this place, the food is the top on our list. Outside beverages and food is not allowed but the food in the resort was terrific. I didn't get the chefs name but he cooked us pretty awesome food the whole time we were there. The place goes up to the hill where there's exotic animals you could see on your way to the jacuzzi or to the chalets or hilltop cottages. There's quite a lot of steps to take but if you are up to hiking, then you'll love it. I love the meals on the beach where your butler can serve your food while you are savoring the ocean breeze. The cruise around the island was also nice. The captain and the crew were great. The butler also went with us and served us magnificent meal at Babu Santa (where we stopped for lunch). We were so spoiled during our stay and we loved it!

It's a real deal. A sense of island experience with luxury. And of course, a big beach with an endless ocean.
The resort is built on a mountain with each housing block on a plateau. The higher you go the better the ocean view gets.
Overall, a beautiful place. Amazing seafood, good people, warm welcoming owner.

The place is very peaceful. We enjoyed our stay. The staff are pleasant and were very helpful. We were not able to get our Official Receipt , so I dropped an e-mail , wow the reply was so fast!

I got a text, a call and an e-mail! We requested for additional details , voila , revision was made asap!

Place is accessible only by boat. You have to adjust your itinerary according to their boat schedule which is 9 am and 2 pm everyday. The service is great. Place is quiet and picturesque. The downside is the low tide but other than that is a cool place to spend an overnight.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hof Gorei for two nights. It's close to the beach which allows for beachfront meals organised by your personal assistant, and plenty of water activities including island hopping, kayaking, jetski, and snorkelling. The beach isn't really sandy, but it's nice for swimming when the tide is high.

The room was clean inside with toilet and shower, and outside was reasonably well maintained also with the exception of ants, but they weren't a problem. The phone signal on the island is a bit unreliable, and there wasn't WiFi access as far as I knew.

Breakfast was included each day of the stay with several options to choose from, and the rest of the meals and drinks were reasonably priced.

The inland tour was a lot of fun if you're ok with being a passenger without safety gear on a small motorcycle. The driver was very experienced and no accidents occured.

Can confirm did not encounter any eerie sightings as mentioned in other reviews. 😅

We had a good time. You can literally connect to nature, and it's quiet. We adore Jelie the Butler; she shows up out of nowhere.

I stayed here for 3days. OMG. My holiday is complete. Nice and peaceful place. The staff is very accommodating. And the food is fantastic. If you are with the elder i recommend you to get a room near the beach, because some are needing a lot of energy to step going to nipa rooms. Overall is Excellent.
