The beautiful church! Called The Sistine Chapel of America. We do not post pictures of the interior because photography is prohibited

Stunning Church - dont judge a book by its cover. Dont forget to look at the painting of way to heaven/hell inside of the entrance Portal.

Beautiful Colonial church in a remote village that used to be an Inca center. The Spanish built it right here in the center to show their dominance over the indigenous population.
The inside is full of paintings, frescos, and altars, covered in gold leaf.

Stunning architecture with a brilliant back story. I was mesmerised by the ancient murals far more than the gaudy gold and silver pulpits. This is an absolute must see

Very nice church from colonial times. Inside you can find oltars covered with real gold and paintings. One of them shows hell and heaven, it was helpful for learning Incas to Christian religion. There is not allowed to take a photos

I've been in many churches but this is really one of the best, the amount of gold makes you feel stunned and frescos are wonderful with amazing story behind them

16th century Church in a small village built by the Jesuits, from outside the walls are plain but the inside is stunning with ornate and baroque style altars covered w 24,carat gold leaves.

Very plain looking Jesuit church on the outside but inside stunningly ornate with amazing murals and a fabulous painted ceiling. Sorry...internal photographs not allowed so nothing to post. There is a little shop in the pretty grounds as well as a WC.

This is such a unique church! Unlike most other little towns, this one has a magnificent amount and quality of art in "fresco" painting on the walls and beautiful paintings on canvas depicting Saint Peter's experiences narrated in the scriptures; amazing wood-carved altars which are gold-plated. It's a must if you visit Cusco because it's just a 45-minute drive.

The Sistine Chapel of America! The 16th century Jesuit church of San Pedro Apóstol de Andahuaylillas is a fine example of Andean Baroque of Arquitectura Mestiza, a local architectural movement that occurs in the area from Lake Titicaca to Arequipa between 1680 and 1780. The lavishly embellished church (built on the foundations of an Inca temple) is overflowing with paintings and retables decorated with gold leaf. And if that is not enough, the church ends in the back with a very impressive Baroque altar. However, do not forget to turn your gaze upwards: the nave of the church is crowned with a magnificent ceiling. Perhaps no Michelangelo, but certainly just as beautiful!

Amazing. Definitely get the guided tour. These churches started going up 30 years after the Spanish arrived. One of four Barroco Andino churches. Not to be missed. Can’t take Photi’s but they give you a CD with photos.
