PUQIO Ecolodge

What luck to have found this hidden gem! So fantastic that I stayed for two weeks. Puqio is half an hour/7 soles from Tarapoto center, nestled away in a tiny rustic village. The hosts Mayra and Daniel are just wonderful, both speak English well and are invested in making your stay amazing. They can organize anything you need. I even saw them offer up some of their own shoes to guests who didn't have appropriate footwear for the river crossing hike! Walking distance to local food shops, waterfall hikes, and a lovely Amazonian chocolate store! My cabin was perfect, I was looking for a quiet open plan meshed in retreat space in lush nature and that is exactly what I got. There is even a water feature just outside the door providing soothing sounds and nightime frogs singing. Beautiful lush trees, and mango season if you're lucky! The shared kitchen is lovely with a nice big fridge, blender and plenty of tools. The knives are even sharp! A Beautiful art/yoga space and the most adorable animals you'll ever meet complete the vibe. I so appreciated the cat snuggles :-) Absolutely would recommend!

Fantastic countryside lodges by a skilled couple who've built them with an eye for preserving the jungle environment. Their design blends beautifully with nature, and the hosts are exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Ideal for hiking enthusiasts with plenty to explore in San Antonio and surrounding villages. A minor drawback is the proximity to neighbors in the villlage who play loud music occasionally (8am on Mondays 🤔). Nothing close enough to prevent sleeping but it does take away from the sense of tranquility and isolation that you get when it's silent. This was the best part of my Peru trip, leading me to extend my stay in Puqio. So relaxing and enjoyable, don't hesitate, really.

Beautifull place near the river. The cabins are nice and the hosts are really kind. You can swim in the river and cool down.

Puqio is a wonderful place. We had an amazing and very relaxing time in the beautiful djungle lodge. Mayra and Daniel were really nice and helped us with all our questions. The Huacamillo waterfall is not far away, it was a nice das trek. The River is also close. The dogs and cats are super lovely. We loved it, can definitely recommend it and will probably come back sometime!!

I have booked a stay at Puqio without knowing much about the area and how to get there after my arrival to Tarapoto airport. Mayara and Daniel guided me and made things easy for me since our very first contact. Gave me all necessary instructions timely. They listened to what I would like to do in the area and arranged all tours and experiences that I was interested in, they helped to book the most convenient way of transport and in general were always ready to answer my questions. They both are really nice people to have around, fun thoughtful and openminded.
Their little jungle at Puqio is simply beautiful. The houses are done with a meticulous detail that are fun and all is surrounded by jungle. See the pictures, all are taken at Puqio. I have spent there just four days and left full of new ideas and well rested. Pro tip: If you are a cat person, ask if you can get the room with cat Mishi. This cat lives in one of their rooms and comes to sleep with you at night if you allow.

Has a direct access to a local river that has great current and clear water .

The bungalows are spacious and well made, very beautiful as well. Maira the owner offers a nice breakfast as well. A barber lives nearby and gives a good hair cut too. The woodwork on the property is great, and there is a nice kitchen.

Prachtige ecolodge midden in de jungle! Deze plaats is fantastisch! Mayra is een vriendelijke en behulpzame host. Ze was steeds bereikbaar en hielp ons om de buurt wat te leren kennen. Met een minitaxi vanuit Tarapoto kan je San Antonio de Cumbaza gemakkelijk bereiken. Er is een waterval en rivier op wandelafstand. De hutten zijn perfect onderhouden, alles netjes en mooi ingericht. Je voelt je deel van de natuur met al haar geluiden. 100% aan te raden

Mi lugar favorito en San Antonio, perfecto para pasar la postdieta o simplemente relajarte en la naturaleza , Daniel y Mayra son muy buenos hosts, bravo.

Todo fenomenal. Estuvimos 4 días y lo disfrutamos muchísimo. Las cabañas son perfectas, arquitectura local, minimalistas, pero confortables y cono todo lo necesario. Y la localización es privilegiada, en medio de la naturaleza y bien conectado, tanto con Tarapoto como con varias rutas que pueden hacerse en el día o durante varios días. Mayra está pendiente de todo y te ayuda con todo lo posible, haciendo de la estancia algo mucho más memorable. Recomendable 100% si te apetece disfrutar de la naturaleza y hacer rutas.

Fui con mi enamorada y la pasamos súper bien. Un sitio que realmente te hace sentir en medio de la selva, pero con todas las comodidades (wifi, agua caliente, etc). Los cuartos cómodos y súper limpios, con muy buena vista y espacio para descansar y respirar mirando la selva. Además, la atención de Mayra y Daniel siempre fue la mejor. Por otro lado, el hotel está a 100 metros del rio, donde puedes bajar a relajarte y ver algunas aves. Finalmente, también estás muy cerca del comienzo de la caminata para la catarata Guacamahillo, la cual es una experencia increíble por donde caminas literalmente en medio de la selva y te puedes meter varias veces a playas que se forman en el rio. Gran experiencia que espero volver a disfrutar pronto!

Me encantó Puqio! Tiene una salida hermosa al río Cumbaza donde puedes tener una gran conexión con la naturaleza local. Nosotros nos hospedamos en una cabaña para 4, construida con materiales de la zona, hermoso diseño! Hacen unas pizzas buenísimas! Súper recomendado!

Mon séjour a Puqio etait incroyable. Je me suis sentie comme chez moi. Le lieux est parfait: un endroit tranquil, appaisant et plein de bonnes vibrations. Le prix de la nourriture est tres correct dans les alentours et la cuisine est très bien équipée, il ne manque de rien. Les lits sont confortables, la propreté est irréprochable. J'ai passé un agréable séjour, et en grande partie grâce a Mayra et Daniel qui sont des personnes bienveillantes et inspirantes! Ils m'ont été d'une grande aide durant toute la durée de mon séjour. Merci pour tout, vous êtes magnifiques ! 🌹✨

Puqio es un hospedaje maravilloso! A 30 minutos de la ciudad de Tarapoto, puedes conectarte realmente con la naturaleza. Hay muchísimas actividades por hacer como la caminata espectacular a la catarata de Huacamaillo, relajarte a la orilla del río, observar aves o simplemente admirar la naturaleza. Amé toda la experiencia Puqio, volvería mil veces!

En todos lados puedes sentir la magia y el amor de la naturaleza 💜🌟 Además Mayra y Daniel, dos grandes seres, han gestado este proyecto desde el fondo de su corazón y eso se siente en cada detalle. Si buscas un lugar dónde conectar a la Paz que solo puedes sentir en la naturaleza y dormir entre los sonidos de la los árboles, tienes que vivir esta experiencia. Recomendadísimo ir al río , está súper cerca, el agua es tranquila y muy limpia 💫💚🤩🥳

Was für ein Zauberort. Umgeben von Natur. Mayra und Daniel sind sehr bemüht und hilfsbereit. Ich wollte 5 Tage bleiben und blieb 9.

Una experiencia de selva unica. Cabañas diseñadas con muy buen gusto. Muy amables y atentos. Cerca del rio y la excursion a una catarata hermosa fuera de la ruta turistica.
