Llanganuco Mountain Lodge

I had a terrific time at the Lodge. Staff is super nice, the food is really good, the room is cozy and clean and the location is amazing at the border of Huascaran national park. Charlie (the owner) was very welcoming and have some really good instructions for the trails he explored, and if you are lucky his dogs can accompany you on some trails. No kidding, everything was awesome and I hope to visit again some day.

We were so grateful to find this gem of a mountain lodge for our last few days in Peru!! It’s a great place to escape and enjoy nature while still having creature comforters like comfy rooms, good food & Wi-Fi @ the lodge. We wish Wi-Fi would extend to the room, however, we understand Charlie has decided not to do that. Charlie was super helpful with instructions of how to find the lodge and as well as lots of hiking tips. The road to get to the lodge is pretty rough. We hiked Lake 69 and it was epic!! Overall loved our stay and will definitely be back! Felix and Yanina are such sweet people that take really good care of the guests.

World-class trekking, exceptional food, stellar staff, and impeccable lodging make this the perfect destination! My wife and I are already longing to return. We stayed nine (9) full days. We wished it could have been a year!

Charlie Good is not only a remarkable host, he’s also a true steward of the land and mountains that make this destination amazing in every way. A fantastic communicator, Charlie knows every trail (and its variations) by heart as he has cleared and trekked here for the last nineteen (19) years.

I would not change a thing about out visit except that we will bring our closest friends the next time we return.

A sunrise hike, Lake 69 without the crowds, superior birding, and the historic ruins that line the lodge combined with a pristine view of the Cordillera Blanca range every single day for us! Pictures do not do these mountains justice.

Absolutely amazing. While it's been over a decade since I stayed here (summer 2011) and this review may be considered redundant by some, it has long stood out in my memory and is somewhere I hope to find myself again visiting in the future. I had an incredible stay here all those years ago. Charlie is a fantastic host, and I greatly admire the life he's been able to build in Peru for himself as I have a great love & special adoration for the country and wish I myself could live there. He seemed to greatly love, support and appreciate his local community and we loved hearing his stories & experiences. He offers an incredible service and value in his lodge and I've followed along online as he's made renovations and even more additions to the lodge in the years since. We loved the accommodations, the delicious food (served family style), proximity to amazing hikes, the lodge dogs 🐕, and every part of our experience. Hope to return one day.

We had a really nice stay at the Llanganuco Mountain Lodge, everything was perfect; the food is excellent, the staff is really nice, the location amazing and the lodge surprisingly modern and well-appointed for such a remote area. Hats off to Charlie

Just spent two nights at Cordillera Blanca Lodge with a group of 14 people for a hiking and yoga retreat. Our group absolutely loved the experience. The location is incredible, service and food both excellent. Charlie is a wonderful host and extremely knowledgeable about the hikes in the surrounding area. We will absolutely return!

Amazing stay at Llanganuco Mountain Lodge. Nestled perfectly in the mountains. It is comfortable authentic spot and the perfect jumping off point for day treks. We came with a group practiced yoga and did day treks. Great food solid accommodations and amazing views. *convenient location, organized and friendly staff

Can’t beat the gorgeous views of Huascaran and access to the national park! Family owned and operated, and three gorgeous dogs. SUP boarding on Laguna 69 was an incredible experience. Would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking to adventure!

This spot totally worth moving from Huaraz - too crowded! The lodge has a perfect location for many hikes. Charlie shares the best tips and survival kits to be radically self relient at high altitudes.

So happy with our decision to stay at Llanganuco Lodge rather than staying a hotel in Huaraz. The lodge is in an amazing location and gave us direct access to some amazing hiking in The Andes including Laguna 69. We did these walks without a guide direct from the lodge. Charlie helped us arrange taxis to get to and from the trails and provided written trail guides and a phone with GPS to help us navigate the tracks. Our room was beautiful with views of the mountains and a log burner to keep us warm at night. Highly recommend staying here. Thanks Charlie and team for an unforgettable experience. Great lodge, location, food and service! We stayed here for a few nights to acclimate before doing the Santa Cruz trail. Charlie and his team helped us get to know the area, scout out great hikes, and made us feel right at home.

An amazing place to stay nestled near the Huascarán Laguna de Llanganuco National Park. Charlie and his family will make you feel right at home and offer great advice for your trekking adventures. Amazing experience. A beautiful, cozy and comfortable place, where the host, Charlie, took the time to recommend places to visit according to the weather and time of the year. He also has lots of experience about the trekking routes and gave us a map that showed the detailed route. In addition, the hotel team was very friendly and attentive to help us in whatever we needed. Overall, I woul highly recommend visiting the lodge!!

Easily one of the best trips I've ever been on. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The views from the lodge were spectacular and the rooms were extremely comfortable. The food was delicious - we had a hearty breakfast each morning to prepare for the hike. Lunch to bring with us on our hikes, and an amazing dinner to come back to each evening. Charlie was a great host, gave great hiking tips, and was great company. This is definitely the place to stay if you want to hike in the Cordillera Blanca mountains area.

My wife, her father, and I stayed at the lodge for two nights recently. What an amazing experience. Simply put this is a breathtaking property in a remote part of the Andes. The rooms were great and the views were impeccable. Multiple lagunas and world -class hikes nearby. The fire stove kept us warm and we had plenty of hot water for showers which is a bit of a luxury in this region of Peru. The owner (Charlie) helped us with logistics when we asked. Food was filling and delicious (although sandwiches could be improved). I am anxious to return someday!

Note to foreigners: the lodge is in a very remote area so make sure you have your transportation secured with someone whose familiar with the lodge.

Very nice location in the middle of the mountains, ideal location for a couple of days hiking near the Llanganuco lakes. From the lodge less than an hour by car/taxi, much better than coming over for one day with an excursion from Huaraz (3hrs ride one way). Als without transport you can do some good hikes starting at the lodge, for example to Huandoy glacier. Quiet location, breakfast outside in the morning sun with view on the snow-capped mountains and in the evening dinner by the fireplace. Charlie is very helpful with planning your hikes and arranging transport (if needed). Recommended!
