I have been there twice over the past year, and each time, it was simply brilliant! The French chef is really creative, with fusion dishes using the best local produces. The right place to try Alpaca meat, which is healthier than beef. Quinoa rules. For the culturally inclined, don’t miss the iron cast stairwell.

Zig Zag was the best meal I had in Arequipa. I ordered the plate with beef, chicken and Alpaca served on the hot Volcanic stone. This was my first time trying Alpaca and it was the BEST place to do it. It was fantastic. I’ve yet to have it done better anywhere else. My cocktail was beautiful. Dessert was good. Service was great. I would recommend making a reservation because the place was lined up when I had left. I felt lucky to have gotten a seat!

Beautiful little place serving up some really creative, tasty food. I had the pumpkin soup and an entree that was a hashbrown with a cheesy mushroom sauce on top. It was crispy and satisfying and the mushrooms were just the right amount of chewy and I loved it. The staff were also very friendly and attentive and made for a very positive experience. Highly recommend.

I had the best dining experience ever at Zigzag, a restaurant that offers a creative fusion of alpine and Andean cuisine. The waitress was phenomenal, attentive and friendly, and the food was perfection. I ordered the trio of meat on the volcanic rock, which came with beef, lamb and alpaca. The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful, and it continued to cook on the hot stone until I finished it. The drinks were wonderful too, I had a pisco sour and a local special drink. The restaurant has a cozy and elegant atmosphere, with stained glass windows and lovely art works. I highly recommend Zigzag to anyone who visits Arequipa and wants to try something different and delicious.

I had the filete de trucha with yellow mashed potato’s and ratatouille. Probably the best fish I have ever ate and one of the best meals in Arequipa. Top notch service and food.

I had a really great experience here, that's why I have been to this location already several times. The food is delicious and the service is nice. I had the 300g Alpaca fillet and can definitely recommend that. The Ratatouille wasn't my favorite, so next time, I would pick a different side. Overall a really nice restaurant. We waited a bit to receive the food, but it didn't feel like a long time and me and my partner had a good conversation, so we didn't even notice. Nevertheless without saying anything, the staff still stepped up and gave us a free dessert.

Absolutely delicious. I ate every last bit of my plate of carpaccio. Waiter was very kind and gave us more recommendations around the area.

There are many restaurants in Arequipa downtown, but this one has been my favorite place. It’s slightly pricy, but the food quality and ambience are just impeccable. If possible, getting the window seats will give you a very nice view of the small plaza in front of it, which is very enjoyable. We like the trio main dish (3 different types of meat), the salad to share and the fried fish appetizer. Highly recommended!

Really nice place, the food and attention was really good, try the choice of 4 meats for a nice preview of the Andean meats and the ice tea was amazing, refreshing, and if you like it extra sweet they will give you jarabe de goma on the side.

Zig Zag’s was absolutely phenomenal. Hands down likely one of the top restaurants in the region.
Service- we were greeted warmly at the reception and our waiter Ian was great and did an awesome job waiting our table.
Atmosphere- beautiful, relaxing, clean with a subtle reduction in lighting of the dining area that sets a perfect mood and adds to the ambience.
Food- outstanding across the board. The meats were cooked perfectly medium rare and served hot on the “volcano plates”. The sauces had a nice variety and all were quite tasty. The alpaca steak was wonderful, but so was the lamb.. so it’s hard for me to say which one was the best. I honestly reckon there’s not a single bad option on the menu though based on what we observed.
Overall - it’s a little pricey, but the quality of food and service is worth it. I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant!

My cousin had recommended this restaurant to me to visit while in Arequipa. We went without a reservation and they told us it would be a 40 minute wait. We were fine with that and walked around in the meantime. At the 40 minutes the restaurant called and said it would be 20 minutes more. So we said it was fine since we had gone to get a coffee. After the 20 minutes, we went back to the restaurant and they told us our table still was not ready but that we could sit in the waiting room and look at the menu. Shortly after we were seated on the second floor. It was a narrow and steep walk up the stairs. The area was cozy and had about 5 tables which seated 4-5 people. One of the people in our party had wanted to sit downstairs near the staircase and they tried to accommodate but there just weren’t any tables available there. Our waiter Ian was very attentive and provided suggestions on how to order. We ordered our food and got some complimentary bread which came with flavored butter (anchovies in it also but not fishy at all) and a green olive sauce. It was good. I ordered the chicken fillet (it’s chicken breast which I prefer so I was happy!) with a side of pure de papa (mashed potatoes) and a salad. The chicken was served on a hot volcanic stone with 3 different sauces. They were all spectacular! Others in my party ordered alpaca, beef and lamb. They said it was all delicious! At the end the manager came I think and apologized that we could not sit downstairs and offered us a free dessert which was a nice gesture. They were cocoa truffle balls which were out of this world! They were so good. All in all I had a great experience and would recommend to anyone visiting Arequipa.

By far the best restaurant I’ve been to in Peru. 10/10 service and amazing food. Really good prices for what they offered as well. Would go for sure!

Had a great meal. Started off with a Arequipenazo cocktail. Very tasty. Followed with an alpaca steak, medium rare. Cook was nearly perfect and the ratatouille and the compound butter perfectly complimented it. Should have chosen the mashed potatoes rather than the corn and boiled grelots. Enjoyed the steak with a cusquenia beer. Overall very satisfied.

Great spot, well located within the city’s historic center, in front of a nice square (and church).

It is located inside a renovated old building, giving it a very cool vibe. We sat on the second floor, very nice view if you get a window table.

Had pork and duck to share, served on hot volcanic stones (apparently a specialty of them). Very good, juicy, tasty, and generous size. Had a local beer (meh) and a Chilcano (pisco + soft drink cocktail, very good). Had the typical “frozen cheese” desert, very good.
